I'll say I'm Just Sayin'
Posting this thread as listening to BE for the first time in a while, and remember Noel saying that Beady Eye songs lacked a great chorus (not wanting this thread to turn into a team Noel V Liam thing)

So long, so long Someday all the world will sing my song Still life remains Somewhere in my heart the beat goes on
the beat goes on actually has some great lyrics "it's not the end of the world, oh no It's not even the end of the day", thats fantastic, had production been abit better it couldve been awesome.

Hm... Difficult. Not that much a chorus listener. I like if the song has a great hook and its not important for me if it is a chorus or something else. There are great hooks on both beady eye records.

Off at the next exit is a great soul song. Would love to have heard what some of the great soul singers would have made of it (apologies, but my knowledge of contemporary soul is pretty poor, although I love a lot of soul music 50s-70s)

Back After the Break
The whole song naturally grows into each other, and it feels like one of the most complete songs Beady Eye did. Liam sounds laid back and the rest of the band gives a good performance in a song that has a different feel from anything else they, or any Gallagher-related project, ever did, besides Half the World Away. When I listen to this song, and then HTWA, I get similar vibes between the two of them. It makes sense, in a way, when you think about the similarities of the two. For 1) Both of them are stripped back and acoustic, 2) They are well-penned and stand out as some of the finest work in the respective discographies they belong to, and 3) They both deserved to be on the respective albums they were omitted from. Albeit HTWA wouldn't have fit on Definitely Maybe, BE needed Back After the Break (and Off at the Next Exit) instead of some of the other stuff that ended up on there.

For some reason I don't know, the first song that came to mind was Evil Eye.

Liam Gallagher is a great soul singer -sings from the soul at least When Paolo Hewitt tried to tell him that he snapped back "Fuck off I'm rock n' roll mate!" so depends on the definition of soul I suppose. I know what you mean though- soul as in no airs or graces that are put on as an act or for show.

i like the chorus on flick of the finger,,oh hang on I like the fact that it does not have one because I am one of those crazy people that defies the heavenly law that each and every song has to have a chorus. Other than that, the first one that came to mind was "World's not set in stone".

I didn't even know any of their songs had choruses.
RFB - pantomime villain of the Beady Eye subforum since '13.

Worlds Not Set In Stone. From the first time I heard it in Parr Hall to now I've always loved it.

Four Letter Word
But even that sounds like a verse.

It was the biggest default of the band, imo. They lacked that break or that chorus in most of their songs to make them less repetitive.

Beady Eye wrote anything that even had the slightest resemblance to a chorus? Nah, I'm not having that.

I remember Andy saying once that one thing he learned from Noel is that he never goes out of the chorus in the same way and i'd say Four Letter Word, I'm Just Saying, Soon Comes Tomorrow, Millionaire all have pretty smooth choruses for that case. I also like Second Bite Of The Apple, The Roller is not a bad tune afterall... I hardly listen to Beady Eye anymore, but saying that they were unable of writing choruses is a bit harsh. Actually they were pretty good in writing Oasis like choruses But that was their main problem innit.

SBOTA is a pretty decent tune, "the word is up if your tough enough" just goes on too long though, I noticed they actually removed some of them at the end of the song towards the end of the tour.
