We all know that Noel doesn't change the setlist often...my current complaint is that he isn't playing enough Chasing Yesterday songs...the album for which he is touring.
What I would love to see, not that it's going to happen, is a "controlled setlist rotation." Every gig has the same structure as follows:
- 5 Chasing Yesterday songs - 4 NGHFB - 1 NGHFB b-side/extra - 5 Oasis Singles - 3 Oasis b-sides/rarities - 2 Oasis non-singles
Those would obviously be mixed...the usual suspects such as DLBIA are obviously in there. All of those songs would be picked by Noel from a small number of rehearsed songs...34 actually, com
Here's what I envision: - 6 Chasing Yesterday Songs from which Noel could choose - 6 NGHFB songs you'd want in the rotation - 4 NGHFB b-Sides/extras to be tossed in - 8 Oasis singles - 5 Oasis non-singles - 5 Oasis b-sides/rarities
If he took those 34 songs down to 20, that would leave him with 1391975640 different possible setlists. Needless to say...we could see some beauties.
Total 20 songs per gig Total of 34 songs for the band to rehearse and have at the ready.
What would be your 34 songs from which Noel would choose...
Here's mine: 6 Chasing Yesterday Songs 1. BOTMI 2. YKWCGB 3. WTSRTS 4. Riverman 5. TDOTL
6 NGHFB songs you'd want in the rotation 1. EOTR 2. TDOYAM 3. WAL 4. BA 5. SOTWB 6. IIHAG
4 NGHFB b-Sides/extras to be tossed in 1. A Simple Game of Genius 2. Revolution Song 3. Let the Lord Shine a Light on Me 4. I'd Pick You Everytime
8 Oasis singles 1. Live Forever 2. Little By Little 3. DYKWIM 4. Whatever 5. Some Might Say 6. Falling Down 7. Don't Go Away 8. DLBIA
5 Oasis non-singles 1. Champagne Supernova 2. Slide Away 3. The Turning 4. Morning Glory 5. The Girl in the Dirty Shirt
5 Oasis b-sides/rarities 1. Angel Child 2. Flashbax 3. One Way Road 4. Talk Tonight 5. Listen Up

Good thread idea, OP. I'd go with something like this, assuming we're talking about a regular HFB gig:
Riverman In the Heat of the Moment Lock All the Doors While the Song Remains the Same You Know We Can't Go Back Ballad of the Mighty I
Everybody's on the Run Dream On If I Had a Gun... The Death of You & Me AKA...What a Life! Stranded on the Wrong Beach
A Simple Game of Genius Do the Damage Freaky Teeth Revolution Song
Live Forever Some Might Say (semi-acoustic) Don't Look Back in Anger Don't Go Away (acoustic) Go Let it Out Little by Little The Importance of Being Idle Falling Down
Champagne Supernova Cast No Shadow (acoustic) The Turning Slide Away (acoustic) Gas Panic!
Talk Tonight (acoustic) Listen Up (acoustic) The Masterplan D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman? (acoustic) Let's All Make Believe
..and that's still leaving off some really brilliant tracks and rarities like The Right Stuff, Alone on the Rope, Supersonic, Shout it Out Loud, Rockin' Chair, Idler's Dream, It's Good to Be Free, Hey Now!, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Part of the Queue, and so on and so forth... I think we need about 45 instead.

I think Noel knows that his live shows are more oasis orientated in the sense of yes hes released a new album but people are more interested in going along and hearing oasis songs in the live setting, I honestly think him playing more CY songs or performing a drastic action like ditching oasis songs apart from one or two would only hurt ticket sales.
at this point in particular the albums been out for 9/10 months so anyone who buys tickets to the shows have already bought the album etc so he doesnt have to promote it as much, thats probably why BOTMI is gone in favour of whatever.
if he was going to do more CY songs it wouldve been at the start of the tour, much like some of the oasis tours as the tour goes on the set features less new songs and more classic tracks.
I honestly dont see the set changing or if it does its going to be songs hes already played since going solo eg wonderwall.

It's a real shame that he replaced Ballad of the Mighty I with Whatever.

It's a real shame that he replaced Ballad of the Mighty I with Whatever. Agree. I'm happy that I did get to hear BOTMI live.

Good thread! Interesting to see how Noel's setlists look like from this perspective.
6 Chasing Yesterday Songs 1. BOTMI 2. YKWCGB 3. WTSRTS (if he ever manages to play that one) 4. Riverman 5. TDOTL 6. LATD
6 NGHFB songs you'd want in the rotation 1. TDOYAM 2. Broken Arrow 3. EOTR 4. IIHAG 5. Record Machine 6. What a Life
4 NGHFB b-Sides/extras to be tossed in 1. A Simple Game of Genius 2. Revolution Song 3. Alone on the Rope 4. Freaky Teeth
8 Oasis singles 1. Live Forever 2. All Around The World 3. D'You Know What I Mean? 4. Supersonic 5. Little by Little 6. Falling Down 7. Don't Go Away 8. DLBIA
5 Oasis non-singles 1. Champagne Supernova 2. Slide Away 3. I Hope I Think I Know 4. The Turning 5. The Girl in the Dirty Shirt
5 Oasis b-sides/rarities 1. I Got The Fever 2. Flashbax 3. Listen Up 4. Underneath the Sky 5. The Fame
I guess 34 is a little too high a number, but man, the setlists he could play...and most of the songs are super easy as well.

I remember all the discussion about Noel playing Oasis songs when HFB started up (should he/shouldn't he? etc) and often the conclusion was that he's only got 1 album out, he'll play less Oasis songs as he has more solo material to rely on.
Now I'm not complaining about hearing Oasis songs but...At the RAH gig, 16 of the 26 songs I think were Oasis songs. And that's with a new album out this year.
Just a thought...

Agreed fully mkoasis. Chasing Yesterday is spectacular. I never thought I'd be wanting LESS Oasis songs, but damn, the album is too good to not play imo.
