After Gem played with Noel again, quite a few here has talked about how cool it would be if he joined the HFB. We've also argued and discussed many times what we think about the current line-up: is the guitarist good enough, what we think of the drummer and etc. So I figured that it would be really cool to see what line-up people would prefer. Not just your preferred guitarist and so on, but the whole band in total. Write about how you think the band look like. Here's my suggestion (also recycling a little bit of the stuff I've written in two different threads after Gem and Noel's performance together): Dream lineup for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds: Noel on lead vocals, rythm and lead guitar. Come on. Goes without saying. It's his band. Gem on lead and rythm guitar. Gem is a brilliant guitar player and a nice guy. He goes really well together with Noel, and those two complement each other. They could switch back and forth doing lead and rythm, but Gem could still do much (or most?) of the lead stuff to let Noel focus on singing well. Tim Smith is a nice guy and a good guitarist, but like someone said earlier, his playing is to generic. Gem's playing is an attraction in itself. He definitely has his own style. You can also see this in the way he plays rythm guitar, the emphasis on the upstrokes in the performance of Listen Up (I think it was) for example. But his guitar solos is also very good. He has great "feeling" in his playing, and elevates the songs he plays on. He's not just a technically good guitar player like Andy. I'm not sure that Noel letting Gem do quite a bit of the lead guitar stuff live with oasis just had to do with laziness and practical reasons (making it easier for him to focus more on the singing), that's of course some of the explaination, but I think Noel also really saw Gem as a great lead guitarist. They would be great together if they were to play permanently in a band together again. Also Gem is a cool looking mo'fo. Russell on bass guitar and backing vocalsHe has already shown that he does a great job at both. Terry Kirkbride on drumsStacey was a good studio drummer on CY, but when playing live he's way too heavy handed. Doesn't seem to have the gentle touch that for example Alan Smith and Chris Sharrock has. Chris would be optimal as he can play both the faster and harder stuff, but also the gentler songs. Still, adding two former oasis members would just create a lot of tiresome questions from the press asking Noel if oasis was reuniting or calling the band "oasis without liam", so that's not really an option. Terry drummed on both WPTWOTWOMS (christ, that's way too long to write, even as an abbreviation), which is a favorite of mine, Mucky Fingers and SAHITS. He has also played with Noel and Gem live, and they're always great together like we saw in the Lincs FM gig. So he can do both the normal electric full-band drumming, and he's a good percussionist on acoustic stuff as well. Keyboards ?Suggestions? Not sure what I think about Mike Rowe's style, but don't know who else I would get for the band either. Now let's hear your suggestions .

Noel Gallagher- Lead Vocals, rhythm and acoustic guitars Johnny Marr- Lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars, background vocals ( Never happen so in his place Gem Archer ) Russell Pritchard- Bass guitar, background vocals Terry Kirkbride or Chris Sharrock- Both with their own merits as drummers & percussionists, though with Terry already on the scene these days it's more likely to be him. Andy Moons or Eddie Harsch- Andy is PW's keyboard player and frontman for his own band The Moons, whilst Eddie Harsch was the keyboard player for The Black Crowes 1991-2006. Not sure if this is the best line up for what I would want it to achieve, which is to get Noel to experiment or jam with live songs, alternate set lists and so on to freshen things up. Unlikely I know given he's done the same thing more or less for years but would be good if he could bring himself to do it!

Paul McCartney on bass.
Oh wait.
Okay in all seriousness. I like Mike and Russell. They're good at what they do plus they always look like they're having fun. Tim has the charisma of a wet mop and sometimes sounds as if he can't even play the simplest thing, Jeremy is actually a fantastic drummer, but I don't know why he hits them so hard. Maybe Noel himself had a hand in that.
I've only ever heard Terry drum during acoustic gigs and on MF, so I have no idea how he is with the regular stuff and the rockier material, so can't say he would do a better job.
I like Chris and Gem, but there are more good guitarists and drummers in the world. Why ex-Oasis members per se?
