Voting for Roy Wood because Roy Wood, but in all honesty i probably prefer Fairytale of NY or something modern; like Christmas Lights or All I Want For Christmas Is New Year's Day. Can't believe I forgot that one! Too bad you can't edit polls... P.S. You can vote for 3 songs max.!

Has to be Fairytale, "You scumbag, you maggot, you cheap lousy faggot" Brilliant! Another favourite isn't up there, Joni Mitchell's River. Came across this from one of Travis' B-Sides:

Has to be Fairytale, "You scumbag, you maggot, you cheap lousy faggot" Brilliant! To say nothing of the heart-warming, christmassy line "Happy Christmas your arse, I pray God it's our last".

Wow, I haven't heard Fairytale Of New York at all so far this year! Usually I hear it multiple times every day of December which is why I've gone off it somewhat.

In my opinion. Fairytale of New York isn't just the best Christmas song, but a great song in general. Wonderful lyrics and beautiful vocals as ever from Kirsty Macoll. A classic Irish folk tune that oozes melancholy.
The rest? I can't stand any of them to be frank, though White Christmas is nice.

Christmas music is some of my least favorite music in the world, but like everything else there are a couple gems. Would probably be rockin around the Christmas tree because its got excellent guitar and Brenda Lee nails it with her charm. I dig Christmas tunes that are kinda 50's styled. The modern ones tend to be overly sentimental ones are just too gushy or kitsch. Jazz, country/standard are the genres that I prefer for the holiday stuff. Baby its cold outside and I'll be home for Christmas are runner ups.
Hell my favorite Stevie Wonder album might be his Christmas one when he was teenager.

News just in...
Fairytale of New York is now rightfully on top with 9 votes; and the lovely White Christmas got a couple of votes at last.
The horrible Wonderful Christmas Time remains at the bottom with zero votes, accompanied with Jingle bell rock; Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Baby It's Cold Outside.

Mary Did You Know?
Lovely tune that is very haunting and has many rises and falls that accentuates those former points brilliantly.

Am I the only one who likes Wonderful Christmas Time? Used to love that as a child, with all those weird keyboard ploinks.
Talking about Macca Christmas songs, We All Stand Together is another one I like.

1. Fairytale of New York 2. Merry Xmas Everybody 3. Christmas Lights
On a side note, Last Christmas is the worst thing in the world. War, famine, and the needless torture of innocents all pale in comparison to that crime against nature and humanity.

Last Christmas isn't a bad song at all.
It's just overplayed and covered too many times. The melody's catchy and lyrics are memorable, which can't be said for Wonderful Christmas Time. It's like McCartney went "Ooh, I need to write a Christmas song, let's just cobble something together" and there it was. Lennon trumps him on that front easily for me with Happy Xmas (War is over).

Oh sure, it's by no means a great Christmas song, and Happy Xmas is probably my favourite Christmas song, but I just like it.

Talking about Macca Christmas songs, We All Stand Together is another one I like. Loathe it. What with Macca's tendency to stray into whimsy and schmaltz at the best of times, it was never gonna be a good idea him doing a Christmas song.

Not even close Bowie and Bing did Little Drummer Boy, with Bowie adding that " Peace on Earth...can it be?...Years from now, perhaps we'll see..." bit on because he hated the song as it was in its original form.
