what's a classic anyway? in terms of sales, popularity, quality? is oasis world?in uk?in the world? imo, i could call classics "Songbird" and "Im outta time".2 singles, with good chart positions, with good sales, in oasis setlists and in their best of, with good reviews and acception from the public. also, those 2 songs are in the highest places in the list with post BHN oasis songs with the most youtube views and spotify streams (actually ''Im outta time'' has the most spotify streams than any other song of DOYS!) so i believe that at least we could call them oasis classics. (Imo i could call them classics anyway.) otherwise i m gonna change the question and ask you " Has Noel ever composed a song that qualifies as a 'classic' in post BHN era? and you have to answer my question with the sames rules... and please dont mention only one or two songs (SCYHO or TIOBI...)Well those are the two actually (maybe Lyla as well?) But it depends on what your definition of a classic is,if we're just talking about great songs Noel has written at least 10 in the post-BHN era in my opinion, but to me you have to consider public reception, sales and how a song has aged to claim that a song is a classic So Noel has written many, but mostly in the 90s,while Liam has written none, but Songbird could be considered an Oasis classic

But after that album , can you really name a Noel classic? a real classic? hm... i m trying to say, with my previous post, that if we are still keep thinking in that way, we will come to a conclusion that Noel never wrote a classic for many years, for 4 albums! But is that truth? Definitely not. Cause imo Noel wrote after BHN more than 10 classics (you put that number). Imo, i can call classic "The shock of The lighting" or "Gas panic" and i can also call classic "Im outta time" or "Songbird'. Cause all these songs are great songs and thats what really matters. Otherwise only coldplay, 1d or bieber, sam or ed produce now classics, and their world is not my world and i suppose not your world too.

Apple pie Magic PieTOTAL TIME 3 hr 30 min PREP 1 hr 30 min COOK 2 hr Ingredients Dough: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 4 teaspoons sugar 1/4 teaspoon fine salt 14 tablespoons cold butter, diced 1 large egg, lightly beaten with 2 tablespoons cold water Filling: 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice 3 pounds baking apples like Golden Delicious, Cortland, or Mutsu 2/3 cup sugar, plus more for sprinkling on the pie 1/4 cup unsalted butter 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon Generous pinch of ground nutmeg 1 large egg, lightly beaten Directions Make the dough by hand. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Using your fingers, work the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles yellow corn meal mixed with bean sized bits of butter. (If the flour/butter mixture gets warm, refrigerate it for 10 minutes before proceeding.) Add the egg and stir the dough together with a fork or by hand in the bowl. If the dough is dry, sprinkle up to a tablespoon more of cold water over the mixture. Make the dough in a food processor. With the machine fitted with the metal blade, pulse the flour, sugar, and salt until combined. Add the butter and pulse until it resembles yellow corn meal mixed with bean size bits of butter, about 10 times. Add the egg and pulse 1 to 2 times; don't let the dough form into a ball in the machine. (If the dough is very dry add up to a tablespoon more of cold water.) Remove the bowl from the machine, remove the blade, and bring the dough together by hand. Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, at least 1 hour. Make the filling. Put the lemon juice in a medium bowl. Peel, halve, and core the apples. Cut each half into 4 wedges. Toss the apple with the lemon juice. Add the sugar and toss to combine evenly. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the apples, and cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to simmer, about 2 minutes. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook until the apples soften and release most of their juices, about 7 minutes. Strain the apples in a colander over a medium bowl to catch all the juice. Shake the colander to get as much liquid as possible. Return the juices to the skillet, and simmer over medium heat until thickened and lightly caramelized, about 10 minutes. In a medium bowl, toss the apples with the reduced juice and spices. Set aside to cool completely. (This filling can be made up to 2 days ahead and refrigerated or frozen for up to 6 months.) Cut the dough in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll each half of dough into a disc about 11 to 12 inches wide. Layer the dough between pieces of parchment or wax paper on a baking sheet, and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes. Place a rack in the lower third of the oven and preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan with one of the discs of dough, and trim it so it lays about 1/2 inch beyond the edge of the pan. Put the apple filling in the pan and mound it slightly in the center. Brush the top edges of the dough with the egg. Place the second disc of dough over the top. Fold the top layer of dough under the edge of the bottom layer and press the edges together to form a seal. Flute the edge as desired. Brush the surface of the dough with egg and then sprinkle with sugar. Pierce the top of the dough in several places to allow steam to escape while baking. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes. Bake the pie on a baking sheet until the crust is golden, about 50 minutes. Cool on a rack before serving. The pie keeps well at room temperature (covered) for 24 hours, or refrigerated for up to 4 days. Cook's Note: You may freeze the uncooked pie, but don't brush it with egg or dust it with sugar beforehand. Place the pie in the freezer for 30 minutes, to harden it slightly, and then double wrap it with plastic wrap. Freeze for up to 6 months. When ready to bake, unwrap the pie and brush it with egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake, from the frozen state, until golden brown, about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Fixed

If by classic you mean a song that is complete and utter shit with no redeeming qualities, then yes, yes he has. Many. It's his speciality.

He's never composed a classic, and I don't think he'll ever be capable of doing so. Simple as. 40+ rock stars don't start producing classics when they haven't already, no matter who they work with, which in that case wouldn't be them producing a classic.
He's produced some good songs. I'm Outta Time (though it can be too much of a cringey lennon ripoff, more so than most liam songs), Songbird, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel, Soldier On, and a few songs with Beady Eye, but even those appeared to require assistance. He's a great singer, and a good songwriter with some help, but not capable of producing a classic.

As far as the actual debate goes I'm probably going to echo a few on here by saying that it all depends on your own definition of a classic. Many songs I love and are 'classics' to me would have no chance of making any greatest songs list. World wide Liam Gallaghers songs may struggle to ever be seen as classics but I can honestly say that Songbird, Different Cloud, Guess God Thinks, The Meaning of Soul, Out of Time, Boy With The Blues, Wigwam, Morning Son, Flick of the Finger, Soul Love, Evil Eye and Start Anew will always be classics in my eyes and my Liam Gallagher playlist is one of the favourite on my iPhone. It must be hard having a big brother that can seemingly write a catchy single at the drop of a hat but I think Liam has done pretty well creating a good to great collection of songs.

I dont think niether Noel or Liam on their own will have another true chart breaking classic just because both of their solo efforts are smaller even if its only because its not under the oasis banner, if oasis released a new record then I could see it happening as its under the oasis name with Noel writing it and likely Liam singing it (or maybe not).
I think im outta time will be Liams best song for me, seen a few articles mistake it for a Noel tune so I guess that stands for something.

I can see where you are coming from and tbh I agree it's unlikely, however stranger things have happened. This Lou Reed beauty was on what started out at least as a low selling album in Transformer, and a b-side to Walk on the Wild Side:- Fast forward 14 years to Trainspotting and a star studded BBC charity version after a corporate film sound tracking by the song a year later, and suddenly in the wider non VU/Lou Reed collecting public minds it becomes a classic and arguably his best known song. I am of course not saying this will happen to Liam or Noel on such a dramatic turnaround as they have already established themselves in the mainstream generally, but the point is it could happen in terms of a relatively (by their standards) obscure song being picked up for an event or similar, and becoming a classic by way of becoming ingrained in the public conscience

I have no idea why, but for me, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel is the most 'Oasis sounding' song written by Liam

I just wish that the electric guitar bit at the end would've developed into something more than just a small little outro to close out the song, or just not been there at all. Either way, it's still good.

The thing about a "Classic" to consider is that song instantly recognisable around the world? Songbird probably isnt. Its certainly one of Oasis best songs, but classic? Probably not. hahahhaha, what?

speaking of songbird, I always hoped oasis would play the live version like the demo, that guitar solo wouldve been awesome, woulve been better than Liam simply clapping during the outro.

Start anew = classic/one of the best songs ever written... enough said. start anew is a good song but I wouldnt go as far as to say its one of best songs ever written, if anything Id say it was abit of wasted potential, it couldve been better imo. it has the classic Liam problem of too much repetition, half way through it just goes around and around, the drum part was amazing though, think the demo was better in terms of the melody. quite possibly his highest quality song since im outta time though.

I think I'm Outta Time, Start Anew, and The Morning Son are all personal classics for Liam, considering it deals with where he was at in his life when the song was released. Not to mention, all three of those songs are really eerie in some ways because they predict what was to come in some sort of way:
I'm Outta Time was a reflection on a big part of his life that was about to come to an end. About a year after the release of the Oasis album it was on, Oasis split up.
The Morning Son signifies that he is beginning a new period in his life where he's doing something new that he believes is going to be successful. While Beady Eye didn't do all that great, this was still the first album under that name.
Start Anew shows him a little confused on where he is in life, and where he wants to go, maybe start something new. Once again, about a year after the album it was on, this time with Beady Eye, the band split up.
You could also attribute Guess God Thinks I'm Abel as a sign of his life, too, with lyrics like "No one can break us, no one can take us, if they tried", and coming to better terms with Noel, or Soldier On, and how it may have shined a light on some of the problems that eventually led to Oasis splitting, but the three above are the ones that stick out the most.

I'd classify songbird as a classic. Ok it's not hey Jude (hate that song as it goes) but in terms of non-oasis fans that I know, who like oasis 'classics' (you know the ones) they all know songbird and like it. So as far as oasis classics go, I'd say that's a Liam classic. The rest of his they ain't even heard of

I know of course it likely has nothing to do with it but looking at the lyrics it seems hes singing about an apparent break up and trying to convince her to take him back and start anew.
