I was just listening to Hello Goodbye and discovered that the backing vocal 'Hello Goodbye, Hello Goodbye' on the chorus has an identical melody to the verse of The Beat Goes On. Maybe I'm looking into things to closely but I wouldn't be surprised if that's where it comes from.

That matches up pretty well. Funnily enough I'm sure LAG never realized it - the Beatles are just in their songwriting whether it's immediately obvious or not.

I've purged tunes like that and Kill For A Dream from my iTunes forever. I don't need their kind.

The start of TBGO is practically identical to the start of dedicated follower of fashion by the kinks.
