As opposed to her edgy, boundary-pushing previous work?

Well he'd be right. He no doubt tried to introduce something a little different to her music and was met by the crushing weight resting on her shoulders of maintaing record sales.

I love how on Rolling Stone and NME you got articles of Adele dissing Albarn and saying she ins't "insecure" but also see an article right below it saying "I'm scared I'll lose my voice".

Well hasn't it always been?
I wonder what was so bad that she "regretted hanging out with him". What, did he make her try to do something that's actually interesting?

As opposed to her edgy, boundary-pushing previous work? That new song of hers is an absolute stormer. A thrill a minute ride. In no way is it dull, beige music that is perfect background music for upper-middle class dinner parties.... I can just imagine her dull drone going on in the background of an incredibly dull conversation. "Oooh, did we tell you that Samuel got an A+ in his quantum physics exam. Absolutely super."

Bollocks to that, I'd rather read one of the related articles, about Bez spurning Julia Roberts' advances in the nineties!

Blur's new album is an easy contender for album of the year, right along with Noel's Chasing Yesterday. There are some truly brilliant works on there, like Go Out, Ong Ong, Lonesome Street (Coxon's backing vocals are awesome), I Broadcast, that go toe-to-toe with some of their best work from the 90s.

I don't know much about her,but she strikes me as someone who takes herself WAAAAY too seriously
And I hate how people constantly talk about how she's a true artist and all that as opposed to most female pop acts, and then you find out she writes with Max Martin and Ryan Tedder (whose work with One Republic I quite like btw) like all the others do...she's got a great voice and might be talented, that's for sure, but her act also seems more manufactured that people think,to me at least

I think the ending is great, its just classic adele, its powerful, it might not be fresh as such but it is the first song out, most of oasis' first singles were the most classic thing they had besides 'dyou know what I mean?' I dont think this album will be as good as the 21 album, I just dont think thats possible.

I love how people go "This is the only song around where the voice is truly the instrument that's central in the song"
Yeah, anyone can put vocals in front of the mix, put some reverb or whatever on them and some other effects.

Should I listen to the Magic Whip in full? Is it worth it? Only listened to Go Out, There Are Too Many of Us, and Lonesome Street (the singles basically).

I think her new record will become one of those records you see lining the shelves of every other house you visit, gathering dust. Maybe like with Be Here Now (I dunno, I wasn't there), everyone will rush out and buy it (because OMG, she's so hot right now!) and then realise it's utter pish (NOT like Be Here Now, which is great) and never listen to it again.
I give her a year, and then nobody will give one. Of course she'll still sell some records, because as Matt said, it's the kind of easy-listening, bland muzak that panders to the upper-middle class folk, but the insane popularity she's got at the moment will no doubt dwindle. It has to.

It has to. Her second album is the 4th best selling album in the UK, surpassing Morning Glory. I'm not saying that she deserves to be met with such acclaim, but I think that she makes good pop music. I'd rather have her songs on the radio instead of some autotoned-to-hell "trap" music.

I'd rather have her songs on the radio instead of some autotoned-to-hell "trap" music. But the kind of music she makes is as Albarn said, very middle of the road. Sombre pop songs like the ones she churns out never have a particularly good sell by date anyway, but with the music climate as it is at the minute, with so many acts just churning out the same piano-led, wet ballads, people will get bored very quickly and move onto the next artist.

Her new song Hello is shit.
I wonder if Adele's new album will brake BHN's fattest selling record in UK.
