The title track features Bon Iver and is fire. The rest seems pretty damn good too, actual hip-hop beats and actual rapping. The production is kinda goodishmeh for the most part, but hell after Revival this will more than do.

Only a couple songs in so far, sounds great. Semi related, this remix after Revival was really good.

Thoughts on Kamikaze:
PROS:
- Fewer pop features.
- More hip-hop beats.
- Smoother flow overall.
- Em is dissing pop stars again.
- MUCH better than Revival.
CONS:
- Rapping fast for the sake of it. I call this the "flibbity-jibbity-hip-hop"
- Beats are not memorable and do not have a distinct melody which can help Eminem (think about it, you can sing the beats for most of his iconic older tracks).
- This one is kinda hard to explain, but the semantic fields he uses now are a bit plain. Eminem blew up in part because he was saying and rhyming things which no-one else would have thought off. We got a taste of this on Chloraseptic Remix with "I'll stick a broom into the uterus of your fuckin' Hooter's chick", which is just insane (who would rhyme uterus with Hooter's chick but Em?), but here even when he's angry the language choices seem kinda plain with no vivid images or language.
And, of course, I have a shortened playlist:
1) The Ringer 2) Greatest 3) Lucky You 4) Paul (Skit) 5) Stepping Stone 6) Chloraseptic (Remix) 7) Em Calls Paul (Skit) 8) Not Alike 9) Framed 10) Fall [If that's the one with Bon Iver, the titles keep changing] 11) Venom

Easily my favorite release from Eminem in the past 10 years.
"Time to separate the sheep from goats And I got no faith in your writers, I don't believe in ghosts"
Holy shit.
His rapping is a lot more steady/straight forward, less melody with his voice. I wonder if thats because it gets tough on his throat doing it that way now so he just does it more normally now. Either way this is the most I've listened to Em since high school, great album.

Either way this is the most I've listened to Em since high school, great album. It's definitely not as good as Relapse IMO*, that album is amazing and criminally underrated. But it's definitely a big improvement on the rest of his 2010's material, cutting down the pop hooks and using simpler beats is a massive step forward. Looks like it's coming in hot, too, with possible 400k first-week-sales, which should sent a good message to Marshall. Still have my reservations on some of the hooks/beats he chose, but a good album nonetheless. 7.5/10. *My Em ranking: 1) The Marshall Mathers LP 2) The Eminem Show 3) The Slim Shady LP 4) Relapse 5) Kamikaze 6) Bad Meets Evil 7) The Marshall Mathers LP II 8) Recovery 9) Encore 10) Revival

In the middle of listening to Kamikaze.
Stepping Stone is immense.
Didn't listen to his previous album as I heard it got absolutely panned.

Kamikaze track is brilliant too. Fuck, my copy had Fall and Kamikaze mixed up. It’s FALL that is excellent, NOT Kamikaze. My apologies, The Escapist

A comparison of Eminem and Oasis' careers, brought to you by me, a nerd:
Definitely Maybe / The Marshall Mathers LP: The undisputed classic, them at their rawest.
(What's the Story) Morning Glory? / The Eminem Show: The more pop-friendly and expansive follow-up, massive hit everywhere.
Be Here Now / Encore: The drug-fuelled ego record that is a spectacular mess. Fans will defend it but for the general public, this was the reign's end.
Then both artists took their longest break yet and came back with...
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants / Relapse: A change in sound to something darker. Fans love it, and the quality is there, but the lack of big singles makes the public disregard it.
Heathen Chemistry / Recovery: The safe reboot, banking in off pop singles and an unremarkable sound.
From that point forward both careers stagnate, although Kamikaze does suggest a brighter future for Em, as the Gallaghers have had in their solo careers.

I only have half his collection: My rankings for the albums I have of his - 1. The Eminem Show 2. Marshall Mathers LP 3. Marshall Mathers LP 2 4. Kamikaze 5. Encore Haven’t listened to Kamikaze enough yet. Encore is so bad it’s unreal. Toy Soldier is a tune though. Haven’t listened to any other Em albums. Other than Slim Shady LP, I don’t think I’m missing much. The geezer is so hit or miss it’s insane - when he’s on form he’s incredible but too often he releases shit like what Encore is made up of.

You should listen to "The Slim Shady LP", his first album, & from the latter period "Recovery" is a great album. "The Eminem show" is my favourite Eminem album as well.

Slim Shady is now the only artist to have nine consecutive number one albums, breaking ABBA and Led Zepplin's record.

All the criticisms in this thread are completely valid and I agree with, yet I think 'Kamikaze' is Em's best record since 'Encore.'

I agree with the Oasis-Eminem parallel/comparison. Em is also notoriously bad at choosing tracklist/leaving off superior tracks. The first 3 albums are fine (though swap Stimulate for Drips in TES), but from then onwards... Encore: We as Americans, I Love you More, Bully, etc needed to be on the album in place of the juvenile pill popping zombie flow tracks that made it. Relapse: mistake was saving a "Relapse 2" for the next year, if he puts the songs he later released in Relapse Refill on the original album in place of some of the fillers, it could've been my favourite album of his. Check out songs like Music Box, My Darling (should've been Relapse opener), Elevator, Drop the Bomb on em, etc. Recovery: this one is alright, maybe cut a few songs to make it shorter and put in Cocaine. MMLP2: The deluxe version had some far superior songs, namely Beautiful Pain and Groundhog Day (one of his best songs ever imo), these should've made the album over crap like Survival and Stronger than I Was. Revival: Him trying to satisfy each and every one of his very different fan base backfired big time. It's a compromised, discombobulated mess. He said he had over 60 songs to choose from, I'm sure there's a variation of Revival out there (in his vault) that is eons better than the one he put out. Kamikaze: too early to tell what other songs he recorded during these sessions. There might be a deluxe version with more songs once the physical album is released.
If you're a big Em fan, you might wanna check out this recent interview with LL Cool J.

Yeah, Em won, but it was kind of a non-beef to me. Arguably the most talented lyricist rap has ever seen going against some nobody saying "your beard is weird"? Come on. Em is on auto-pilot here and it's still enough to body MGK. I'll become interested if and when Tyler, Earl, or Budden (on a track, not a cringy podcast) come back at Em. That would be a dramatic beef.
