I think that Moyles bit is quite encouraging. I can see why you could get a bit of a shock if you're expecting new Noel material in the style you're used to and get something very different. The fact that he ended up with the tunes on his brain makes it sound like it's still got good melodies, just perhaps with a different twist. Reslly looking forward to hearing Noel's process behind this album, I've always thought this would be the final part of his solo trilogy before getting back to Oasis and is willing to be a bit more 'out there', but that's just a hunch. Even the worst Noel Gallagher song will have a catchy melody. The man's ear for a melody really is God like. The key is in the simplicity of it all.Heck, it must be a Gallagher thing. Liam knows about 8 chords, but when he really tries, his melodies are superb (Boy With The Blues, Songbird, Bold, Greedy Soul, Universal Gleam). And that is true. Simplicity gives us the greatest pop music ever in my opinion, but there are various methods to being 'simple'. So with that in mind, I cannot fathom how some folk here can't comprehend that many of us are only willing him to change the chords, the tempos and the beat. I keep referencing Fuckin In The Bushes - simple but different. We all love that tune and I'm not saying we should expect an album full of those types of songs, but it is ample proof that he can give us something different while pleasing us all. So I am not asking for Noel's very own 'Revolution No 9' or Kid A, I am only asking for something different from what we usually get. What we need is something less stale, less predictable, a bit more fresh and original. Quite frankly, it shows how stubbornly rigid and complacent Noel has been that it is shocking to some that he may do something just slightly different this time.

My money is on the album sounding like this This is a mega remix. Unkle are great - done great work with RIchard Ashcroft, Thom Yorke, U2, and Ian Brown. All alternative rock stars proving how perfectly compatible rock and electronica are. Noel's been a fan and hob nobbing with electronic acts like this for two decades - he's not averse to dabbling in the right kind of experimentation.

That remix is incredible! I'd fucking love Noel to do some more stuff like that and the Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve remixes.

I say it all the time for Liam and Noel, who the fuck cares what Chris Moyles has to say??? He's no trustworthy ear when it comes to music. Reminds me of just a shock jock radio host.

Not logged on a few days, so just read this - but the fact Moyles seems unsure is music to my ears! This is a guy who probably thinks the Stereophonics compilation Decade In The Sun is the epitome of high art (no offence to Stereophonics, I like some of their music). Let's not forget how highly he seemed to rate For What it's Worth. New title for that song. "For What It's Worth.... Just Listen To Mind Games Instead"

Just listened to Discotheque again, and if Beautiful World is anywhere near as cool as that, we're in for a treat. Love that tune.

U2's Pop was ahead of its time. So unfairly discarded as being rubbish when it was released.

U2's Pop was ahead of its time. So unfairly discarded as being rubbish when it was released. It's not Zooropa and I'm not the biggest fan of some tracks but it is damn well better than anything after AYCLB.

Discotheque is incidentally Alan McGee's favourite U2 song. Given the diverse styles that many of his indie/alternative acts on Creation chose, I wonder if he would have been a good influence on Oasis sound if he'd stayed around a bit?

Discotheque is unreal. I remember it came out when I was 8 and even though it was different than any U2 I had heard before, I was instantly hooked. Even saw them on the PopMart tour at that age. If Noel's stuff sounds like that, I'll be thrilled.

WHAT?!?! I know opinion is opinion, but I'll throw the towel if the new Noel song is anywhere near Discotheque.
The only way to save us all in this thread is if we get one little fucking snippet of something... give us something!

Also if Noel, Gem and the rest can copy the Discotheque video. Especially at the end when they are dancing and thrusting like the village people. That would be amazing.

Tom Cruise is also very short. Just saying. Most celebs or people hungry for power are pretty short, usually. With a few exceptions, of course. Is there a correlation between the two, i dont know...
