Yeah definitely not now, now that U2 shared their comeback single. Mid sept looks right. The song U2 dropped today isn't even their new single that is coming on 9/6. Noel can totally drop something on Friday. He won't but he could. Liam might be releasing his video tomorrow for FWIW.

Get your wallets ready - that would be great name for new Noel's song or album That is SO Noel. With the B-side "Buy a t-shirt on the way out"

That's not Noel's account, though it is something he would say.

If Noel is gonna be new age with this release he should release it Friday. That's what all the newer artist do. Tease it earlier in the week. Single drop on Friday. I'd hate if it's just a tease for a song in 3-4 weeks. Too old school. Too old Noel. Three words that are not usually in that order when discussing Noel G

Is that a turtleneck sweater and a Fender Jazzmaster? A true indie combo.

If we don't get another teaser today from Noel's side or from some radio DJ, I guess tomorrow is pretty much out of the question.

I'd rule it out just because Noel is old fashioned. Plenty of artist tease one image or thing then just dump a single on a Friday. You don't need to do it 2-3 times in the week prior. Some do, some don't. Doesn't really matter overall. Hopefully that video shoot images were from weeks ago and not from Monday. Noel would prob release single and video at the same time because that only makes too much sense.

Judging by his outfit I'm guessing there's going to be colors or an image or something projected onto Noel and the background. Should be interesting.

Noel would prob release single and video at the same time because that only makes too much sense. Some acts release the single and the video not at the same time nowadays. That way they can put a "lyric video" or just the song and then the actual video on youtube, in the hope that it will double the plays. + it will make twice the news, first the single, then the video. Boom, you got two articles instead of one.

Does it work if you aren't a big young pop star?

Does it work if you aren't a big young pop star? The idea is to not "place all your eggs in one basket", but ?i can't see this strategy working for a middle aged musician at all. Their base is far to small for this to be effective. Noel has 105k subscribers on YouTube (41 million views), Liam has 67k (9 million views).... those numbers are essentially nothing in the music world. If we as a forum started a Youtube channel, I bet we could get numbers like that within a couple of years if we put forth the effort. Generally speaking, in online marketing, content is king. And that content doesn't even have to be all that great. The more articles, stories, videos, etc. that you have then the higher chance you have of someone stumbling upon your content. That's why bands are releasing back-catalogue videos all the time (Oasis lyric videos come to mind). More content. That said, for Noel and Liam, you could just as easily release lyric videos for each album track when the album drops and get the same number of hits most likely.

Agreed, although is suspect they are doing simply for the medias side of things. To get more stories in the news. It doesn't change anything or hardly for youtube views, but you get more headlines out of it. That's essentially why Liam released For what it's worth lyrics video, then the Air studio version and soon the proper video. That's 3 headlines for the NME and the likes. And it gives more chance for people to be aware there is something out there to buy. Not a bad strategy coz really, it's not the die-hard fans they are aiming to reach with those multiple formats, more the market for Christmas sales.

I think the plan for that song changed because he hated the original video so much he stuck it on a b-side Do The Damage instead, and gave us the most boring video in history for ITHOTM a few weeks later.

Just went to Noel's You Tube to turn on ITHOTM for my son. Under the playlist Official Videos I found an extra video labeled Private Video.
Weird, right?

Call me crazy but I'm feeling single drop tomorrow. He would probably like to have a new single out before the Manchester benefit. He won't do it next week with U2 blocking it.
