Why does Liam's album have to be out before Noel's? Seems like Noel is further down the line based on quotes. Liam seems like he just got the ball rolling this past winter. Seems a little too quick. Noel throughout his whole solo career has been more deliberate than Liam. It's led to more even albums in terms of quality. Though Noel has also been a "quick" worker. Since Oasis broke-up, this is his fourth project in eight years. That's about one every two years (that doesn't include some of things he's guested on like the Monkees, Coldplay, and the odd special appearance at a gig: U2, Johnny Marr, Damon and Graham. Though we've only seen three of the four come to fruition, that's a quicker clip than when he was in Oasis, and certainly more between album activity. Actually makes you wonder how Noel finds the time. But I agree. Noel's been working with Homles since the middle of the Chasing Yesterday tour. We're talking about almost two years in the studio, but it feels like Liam may be in there for two months, max? It does seem odd. Unbelievably, Noel's actually been working on this forthcoming album since October 2013. First day of recording was in Belfast with Holmes on 27th October of that year, the day Lou Reed died.

Yea, you're right. I don't think Noel has worked on the material for an album for this long since Definitely Maybe then. But in that time, he only wrote 5 songs? I believe during the last update he said that he had only written 5 songs. I wonder if Holmes has veto power on songs? Would remind me of Nigel Godrich on Chaos and Creation with McCartney, where he openly told McCartney that some of the songs he was writing were crap. Only way I could see him only writing 5 songs in that time, even with being sporadically in and out of the studio.

I doubt Noel's album will come out this year. If so, October, November at best.

Noel mentioned that he wanted to release Chasing Yesterday in October 2014, since the October release of NGHFB went over so well. It didn't happen because of the reissues, but if the third one is ready in time, October seems to be the most likely release. He's not going to go for a summer release, anything close to Christmas is out anyway, so it's either October 17 or March 18.

I bet he's got around 20 songs left from previous albums, but writing in the studio definitely slow things down. Also, from what I understood, they have 5 songs finished, not written. Maybe they have some songs that they're still working on.

I'm not sure why has to be so slow all the time. He's now 50. Time is flying by. There is no reason why he can't bang out this Holmes album by fall, then polish up all the songs he had laying around from latter Oasis till now. Make that another album or EP. He doesn't need to constantly tour either. People will still buy the albums, just don't expect records of awards. He loves Bob Dylan, Neil Young and David Bowie but sadly never inherited their work ethic.

I don't think you can compare eras. Plus Noel likes to live his life. Bowie did a little thing called living for a bit and didn't release an album for how long? And let's not act like Young and Dylan have released quality over the years either. Both have albums numbering in the double digits that could have due for an extra year in the studio. Is it great to release stuff every year? Yea. If it's quality, which Noel has mostly delivered. But if you're releasing stuff like Self Portrait, then I'll take the extra year wait. Idk, in 23 years Noel's released 10 studio albums. That's not laziness. And that's not a lack of work ethic either.

Didn't he say he wants to get it out before Glastonbury? He wants everything done by Glastonbury - so that's everything from mixing, the final track list, album artwork, etc. Would that put him for an October release?

Noel will also want to do interviews in advance. That typically takes a delay of a month before any interview shows in any edition of a magazine, and a couple weeks for some websites. He'll, or his management team, will also be spending months (most likely beginning now) for booking gigs for the next year to year and a half, which will continue even after the album has been released.

Bottom line is Noel is a lazy piece of shit since 2000. I'm not counting cover albums Look, Radiohead, since Oasis broke up has released 1 album. No one is clamoring for them to be more like Dylan. In the end, it's no large feat for Dylan to pump out cover albums. Hell, it took Bowie took 10 years to release an album, and at his creative peak he had Brian Eno helping him pump out albums. Besides, if you have to compare Noel to the greatest artists of anyone's generation to call him lazy for releasing 10 albums in less than 25 years, then oh well. Not everyone is Dylan or Neil Young. And for good reason. You're making a flawed comparison. Say he's not adventurous enough, sure. But he's releasing albums at probably 99.9% of artists' normal clips/rates.

KOTL came out the same year as DOYS, correct? Still, that has Yorke and Noel tied for albums once Noel releases his third ablum later this year. So how is Yorke very active, but Noel lazy? This is a false narrative

Phil Selway released albums and Jonny Greenwood released albums and wrote scores for films. Plus Thom Yorke plays stuff for fashion and keeps releasing music here and there even if it's only unofficial digital stuff. Thom is very active.

Since Oasis ended in 2009. - 2 Radiohead albums - 2 Phil Selway albums - 4 Jonny Greenwood film scores (a 5th coming out this year) - Atoms For Peace album - Thom Yorke solo album - Phil Selway EP - Ed's solo album comes out this year Plus I've lost count the amount of times Thom has released one off single, collaborated with electronic producers for singles and album tracks.

Noel's got young kids, so releasing an album, touring for a year and a half, then having six months off at home before spending a year on a new record sounds fair enough to me. 2 and a half to 3 years is what I'd expect between album releases, anything quicker is a bonus. He's not the kind of bloke to release music without milking it for all its worth so I can't see him dropping any new material without a tour to accompany it.

By Age 42-49: - Young 7 albums - Dylan 6 albums - Bowie 3 albums And my original point was that Noel doesn't have that creative drive like Dylan or Young have, his big heroes. These guys are constantly pumping out music and have done such all their life. They are musicians and musicians make music according to Neil and Bob. I just wish Noel had more gumption in this respect. I know it's never gonna happen. Could have with AA but didn't. Radiohead fans always clamor. Always. They've got a box of unused songs that blows away the stuff Noel has been sitting on for a decade. It makes us fans so fucking mad all the time. Unleash Lift, Big Boots, Follow Me Around, etc.
