I can’t understand why people want the album to leak. Have a bit of fucking patience. We’ve waited nearly 3 years so 9 days as Gas Panic has fantastically reminded us today is hardly anytime at all! We are just over a week away from release and I’d like to think most on here have preordered the album or are planning on buying it on release day. I’ve spent a fortune on the album and Holy Mountain single, over £100 so feel I’m justified in listening to it properly rather than a dodgy stream rip or something. I always get the impression folk who always post about a leak for any band haven’t bothered their arse to buy it. Probably just me though, but each to their own. Anyway, hopefully the remixes get announced soon too, will be cool to hear what Andrew Weatherall and Richard Norris have came up for their reworks.

This is a different album, and could be the best or the worst Noel album of his entire solo career. Noel digging new sounds is something people have been waiting for ages, even a decade.

So because of “hype” you’d rather listen to a leak, which could possibly reduce the sound quality and overall experience depending on the source, rather than the way Noel Gallagher wants you to hear it, ie on vinyl, CD or legal stream? He hasn’t spent all this time and creating something different to listen in possibly a reduced quality. I’ve been waiting 20 years for the new sound from Noel ever since Setting Sun and Temper Temper right up to Death In Vegas and The Amorphous Androgynous so hype it up in your mind for one more week and enjoy or hate it the way he wants you too.

I completely agreed with you, Jim, but you probably would have known that. Each for their own. Some people are dying to hear leak. Not for me. I've never download any Gallaghers related leaked materials. I just don't bother it. I pre-ordered Who Built Moon deluxe CD, black vinyl, picture disc, Japanese edition deluxe CD/DVD, Holy Mountain picture disc and will get HMV exclusive with a orange single. I've spent fortune for Gallaghers and just don't bother to chasing leaks. What annoys me is, that people have no patient. if it leaks, it leaks, and if won't, it won't. Only 9 nights to sleep until I hold a copy of Who Built The Moon!

The same thing was said on As You Were and the leak quality was perfect

For all NG slates the sound of BHN, he has resurrected it here with this track. I think it fits the track, too. I'd rather the bass/guitars be more audible in the first set of verses, but as soon as the chorus comes in it sounds perfect to me - the more energy and noise, the better.

Things are not so black and white. At this stage, the leak could easily be a quality CD rip, which is exactly what I'll be getting on release day, since the official store downloads are 320 kbps mp3 and my LPs will take a few days to arrive here. For sure I'm listening to the album as soon as it pops up on Spotify Australia.

Quality..? Have you heard Holy Mountain with headphones? As much as I love Noel I gotta admit that the production is complete rubbish. The same thing was said on As You Were and the leak quality was perfect As You Were wasn’t “leak” quality, it was a retail CD that was ripped in a decent 320kbps mp3 quality a matter of days before the official release. If you’ve bought Holy Mountain from iTunes, Juno Download or any other download store in whatever format then that is how Noel Gallagher intended for you to hear it. If you are happy listening to a shitey 128kbps stream which has been re-encoded over the proper vinyl, CD or stream then that’s up to you but you can’t complain about production when it’s a shite version that’s been uploaded in the first place. I will also point out that the official Wall of Glass download was distorted as fuck, however the album version was much better so again using production doesn’t sit right, it was how it was mastered so again it’s better to listen to the album itself as Noel intends.

This. When I expect a leak, I mean a cd quality rip, ain't gonna listen to a transcoded rip. I would gladly go buy it at a store, if I knew it was going to be available on release day, but it won't.

If it leaks I will listen to it. I wish it were another way but I have no will power. Leak day has now replaced record store day when you share in the joy of a new album with friends and fans. That doesn't really happen anymore on record release day because 99% of the time the album has leaked before hand and been heavily discussed.

I think it's virtually nailed on that we'll have it this weekend. Even if it wasn't getting released on Tuesday in Japan. I'm going for this Friday.

Whatever the quality of the leak, I think that the automatic assumption that 'those who download the leak are likely those that won't buy the album' needs to stop. I'm sure some people fit to that stereotype.
But speaking as someone who buys Noel and Liam albums, I will still download and listen to the leak (as long as it is better than potato quality). And why shouldn't I? I pay every month for Spotify, and I buy Gallagher albums. If the album is available to listen before the release date, I will have no shame in giving in to the primal urge of listening to the music of my favourite artist.
Sidenote: I think this album is going to be absolutely mega.

Albums rarely leak from Japan source, so dont expect to leak early because of that early release date. So far, very few leaks today for this week's release. Tomorrow is the big day, or not.

In terms of paying Noel for his music, I shelled out $165 for two tickets, so I don't really feel bad about not buying the album. I don't know if I get a copy with the pre-sale ticket package or not. Generally, live touring is where artists make their money anyway.

I'm really tired of just having FK and HM on Spotify. It's sort of killing my anticipation at the moment tbh. I need something new.
