Will it happen? As far as the actual music credentials I feel its a no doubter, regardless of the number of american music crictics who look the other way. The reality that they dominated (and in some circles, still do) dominate the british music scene for the better part of a decade certainly make them at least as eligble as say, Blondie. This fact, coupled with a rebirth with dont believe the truth and the almost assured success of the upcoming lp pretty much locks them in. The only aspect I'm slightly concerned with is the 25 years of "existence" requirement. It seems like 20 already, but in reality we're really only looking at 13...maybe 14 if you stretch it. Math says another 11-12 to be eligible. The way its going that means another 3-4 lp's. Also puts noel at 52ish and liam pushin 50 himself. I realize knobs like the stones will likely do this shit til they're 90, or dead, and i rarely take noel at his word, but i could c them being straight with their fans and not making fools out of themselves like the stones (whom i respect, but are appalled by the majority of their recent live shows). Further, I realize the hall has "counted" years of seperation for groups that later reconvened, but our boys aren't even close at the moment.
what say yous?

they say 50's the new 3o...but does that include taking into account enough drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol to take out a small town?

I don't think it really will matter how long they have been making music for. With the stuff they have already done, they are pretty much guaranteed a spot in the hall.
Just think of the bands that are already in there and compare them to Oasis. You will find that they are much bigger and made better music than most bands already in there.
Also, there aren't many bands from the 90s that would be more eligible than they are so I think they will get in.

doubtful. there are too many detractors in the u.s. if the hall of fame wasn't in the u.s., they'd be a lock in, for sure.

2 big hits in America won't get you in.

Gotta agree with the last couple posters... I really don't see it happening. Of course, a lot could happen in the next 4-8 years to change that opinion. Realistically though, I don't see them selling a shit load of any future albums... and I don't think that Wonderwall will be enough to get 'em in... Like NYR said, if the Hall wasn't based in the US they would have a much better chance.

I remember reading an article (don't remember which magazine it was from but it was north american) a few years back talking about who could potentially be inducted to the hall. I remember it said that there aren't many bands from the 90s that made a huge impact on rock and roll, and the potential inductees were few. The main thing was that Oasis was mentioned as one of the few bands that was almost certain to make it.
And even though the hall is based in the U.S., it doesn't particularly have to be achievements made in the U.S. that get you in to the hall.

you know its a valid point that they really only had one mega hit here with wonderwall, but champagne, wtsmg? dlbia, supersonic, live4ever, dykwim?, lyla, stop, and go let it out all got a pretty decent bit of airplay (at least when they first dropped in some cases) i still think theres a small window for them to pull a greenday (maybe not to that magnitutde, unfortunately) over here and have a bigger "rebirth" with an album that has 2-3 "lylas" on it. Lyla had a little pull here for a minute and i think another strong single would have helped a shitload. Stop the clocks was a marketing nightmare (like most of their u.s. endeavors) so its difficult to use that as a legitimate gauge. Like some have mentioned here though, i think it will be hard to deny their absolute rule over england for the entire decade and a couple more critically acclaimed albums should probably seal their fate...........let hope anyway.
