I actually plan on doing this for every Oasis song eventually but I'm just concentrating on 1991-1997 for now. I'll be sure to upload it one day but it may be in the far future. Anyway here's my workings for the Be Here Now tracks. I've excluded other songs mentioned in 1996/1997 ['New Suede Shoes', 'Slow', 'Mirrory Puddles', 'The Lost Chord' and 'God Will Never Save Your Soul'] but they'll feature in the full version uploaded in the future. I've erred on the side of caution with the dates and would imagine that many of the ' or earlier' suffixes are unlikely apply but I've included them to be safe. I've also tried to keep any speculation to a minimum. If anyone wants to contest anything you're more than welcome to do so. Two comments I will make though are that it's difficult to categorize a track when it was written over an extended period of time and Noel (& other Oasis affiliates) aren't always the most reliable sources as there are numerous occasions where I've found quotes which are blatantly untrue. Anyway hopefully some of you may find this an interesting read! 1993 1994 or Earlier 1995 or Earlier 1996 or Earlier 1996 1997 or Earlier

The Crimson Rambler Very interesting stuff, thanks ! That's something I always wanted to do, a kind of Oasis 90's songwriting chronology. For some reasons, I thought before that "Going Nowhere" was written around 1990.

For some reasons, I thought before that "Going Nowhere" was written around 1990. Cheers pal! I think most people believe 'Going Nowhere' being written ~1990 to be the case as it's based on a genuine Noel quote. It would be very striking if true, which is why lots of people probably remember it, but let's just say Noel's exaggerates a little bit sometimes. When you think about it Noel was writing stuff like 'Columbia' (as an instrumental), 'See the Sun', 'Colour My Life', 'Arkayla' (I Will Show You), 'Must Be the Music' and 'Snakebite' around this time. It not the best fit is it? In 1993 though Noel was writing stuff like 'All Around the World', 'Don't Go Away', 'Half the World Away', 'Rockin' Chair', 'She's Electric' amongst others. This is much more believable and coincides with the evidence given.

For many people Noel wrote GN in 1990 because it is on The Masterplan sleeve notes.

Amazing work! Did you ever post an updated thread? Cheers but nah, unfortunately and predictably I never got around to it. When you start digging and being so comprehensive you realize there's fucking loads of stuff (mainly from them 2 notebooks from 93 & 94). I've made loads of notes but I've yet to sort them all. One day maybe.

Is there any reference of this tape either picture or sound as it would be interesting to hear a version of DGA pre the club quattro soundcheck in 1994

Don’t Go Away AKA ‘Need More Time’Written by: Noel Gallagher References: 1) The song was featured on a 1993 demo tape under the title ‘Need More Time’ with Noel on lead vocals. In reference to the 1993 demo tape which this post indicates an early 'Don't Go Away` is on. Is there any reference of this tape either picture or sound as it would be interesting to hear a version of DGA pre the club quattro soundcheck in 1994 Here's the image of the tape. It's in the possession of Brian Garcia and unfortunately isn't available to listen to. Most of what's on here will be demos we've already got but there's definitely some unique recordings here. 'Need More Time' (confirmed to be 'Don't Go Away' and not 'She's Electric'), Noel on 'Married With Children', some high quality versions of the "Whatever Demos", maybe some alternative recordings... It's a very weird tape. It's from late 1993 ('Shakermaker' was written early/mid September) yet it contains 'Take Me' and 'See the Sun'.

I know he's got all these tracks in the bag, but you've got to make the 1st album a success otherwise you might not get a 2nd album. I don't really follow the history of any other band, but I assume it's odd to have so many tracks in the bag. I always imagined any band would have a few tucked away, but most of the next album would be written after getting the last album out? No?

Looking through Noel's notebooks I think he is very much focused on the band's debut (singles + b-sides) but having so many good songs at his disposal I think he's beginning to think ahead, see how much gas is currently in the tank for a follow up and what seeing how it's theoretically shaping up already. He's possibly doing it just for kicks as much as planning. Oasis LP#2 [As written by Noel sometime between Sep - early Dec 1993] 1) Hello 2) New Stones [Unknown song. AKA as 'Beret']
3) Rockin' Chair 4) She's Electric 5) Going Nowhere [Listed as 'Here Am I'] 6) Stay Young 7) Being a Blue [This song turned into 'Acquiesce']8) Everything's Alright [Unknown song. Speculated working title to 'Step Out' as it rips Stevie Wonder's song of the same name]9) Yours Is Mine [Unknown song. Lyric sheet available]10) All Around the World Oasis LP#2 [As written by Noel prior to early Oct 1994] 1) Whatever 2) Hey Now [Listed as 'Feel No Shame'] 3) Step Out 4) Some Might Say 5) Hello 6) Going Nowhere 7) Rockin’ Chair 8) My Sister Lover 9) Roll With It 10) On + On [Unknown song. Very interesting, Though I do still think everything in 95 and 96 took noel by suprise and by the time we get to late 97 you can see how frazzled he really was as a songwriter I think between late 92 and Aug 95 (basically between writing the earliest DM tracks and 'The Masterplan') that was when Noel was on his A-game. He wrote some very good songs after then ('DYKWIM? being the next in early 96) but he very obviously wasn't the same after that time period. If I were to line up everything Noel wrote after Aug 96 chronologically I'd say he's been relatively consistent since then. What is an interesting discussion point is why did he lose this ability and IMO even more interesting, how did he gain this ability so quickly after writing such mediocre stuff like 'See the Sun', 'Must Be the Music', 'Colour My Life' etc. only about a year or so earlier.

Some would argue The Real People, but stuff like wonderwall and champagne supernova is a case of intuition/talent/chance/inspiration and drugs possibly
