It does feel like its missing something from the live version but its still really good IMO. I prefer it over Everything Now and I really like that song too. The lyrics thus far have been absolutely scathing about today's culture. Do love the lyrics in fairness - no poetry to them, but it works.

I appreciate the lyrics in the video. Some of Regines vocals are hard to make out. Live they are, but is AF still a “rock” band? It started with Sprawl II and continued with Reflektor. How would you classify the music they are making now?

How would you classify the music they are making now? Thats a great question. The music they are making today and filtered heavily with during Reflektors is the direction I always knew they'd end up in. Going back to Win's quotes during the Neon Bible era of wanting to work with electronic producers like James Murphy and the type of music he grew up listening to (Radiohead, The Cure, Talking Heads, New Order, Magnetic Fields). It's like post punk new wave disco.

So, I've been witnessing their pre-album release marketing campaigns and built ups since Neon Bible - and this is the one that got me the most excited. I absolutely love Everything Now and Creature Comfort. Also, I don't mind the musical direction they're heading to at all. It only seems logical. Most relevant band...in the world. ;-)

You may find yourself listening to this in a french automobile. Renault is indeed my weapon of choice, hindering the busy streets of Berlin asking myself, well, how did I get here?! :-)

Don't like the live version. Love the album version. Creature Comfort is a tune!

I allowed myself to listen to this (it is the second single and that's allowed!) - jeez, it's pretty hard hitting isn't it? And the sound surprised me too - it's real electropop, reminds me of Scandinavian pop stars like Susanne Sundfor. Underneath all the glossy sophisticated production, they throw in their darkest lyrics yet. Great tune.

The lyrics thus far have been absolutely scathing about today's culture. The song is decent enough, but I find the lyrics a bit crude. They can do better. Black Mirror and Reflektor told a similar story without lyrics that clobber you over the head.

Black Mirror and Reflektor told a similar story without lyrics that clobber you over the head. I think the crudeness is part of the point though - everything now, infinite content, a world without subtlety. It's showing how glaring and blatant even the dark side of having everything now is, while parodying that situation itself. I like the lyrics.

Rumour has it that Signs of Life is to be released by the 30th. Can't say I'm all that excited for this one.

You're probably right, but there's a part of me that recoils at throwaway lyrics like "On and on, I don't know what I want" even when they make perfect sense in context.

I like these two new songs, more than the first couple of singles from Reflektor anyway but why are all the guitar bands going down this Talking Heads/TDCC/Disco-y Daft Punk type sound at the moment? This is good stuff and Creature Comfort genuinely moves me but why does every alternative band have to go down the same route at the same time? It's like in 2009-11 when almost every guitar band had a low key, dancey, synth dominated, kinda artsy type sound.
Most of the time with modern bands I find myself trying to enjoy their music in spite of their stylistic choices and I'm not criticising their choices as being wrong. It's just that I like my music to sound like it was recorded live in the studio and to sound as raw and energetic as possible. It's great that other people are enjoying it, but ffs when is it going to swing back to my tastes again!?
The Suburbs was pure perfection, I can enjoy this newer stuff but i hope Arcade Fire stick around long enough to release a proper follow up to that in the same vein.

On their last 2 albums they were playing live in the same room during recording. They blend so well its become so hard to tell.
