I fear there will be some kind of US vs Russia war if Clinton becomes a president.(I live about 200km away from St. Petersburg by the way) Oh seriously now come on.

Well, it certainly was interesting to get a glimpse of the two running mates mostly neglected by the media in this election cycle! I think I'll have to give this one to Kaine. He got off to a bit of a shaky start, but by the middle, he was forcefully countering everything Pence was saying and painting him into corners again and again. Not too shabby for the guy next in line to the President. Pence, however, had serious problem answering questions, and used quite a lot of prepared responses while accusing Kaine of using them. Other observations: - Kaine was pushy at times but definitely got his point across, which may lead some to label him as less professional, but never was he rude as Trump.
- Pence was more controlled than Trump, but that doesn't say anything. If anything, it indicates that a man with the same beliefs as Trump may be able to win over moderates because of a more "polished" attitude. That frightens me.
- Lots of retread ground from first debate.
- Neither candidate is as charismatic as their running mate

The VP debate happened last night......that is all Typically VP debates do nothing for the polls. It does give Trump some non-negative headline I guess? But the real question is debate two for the presidential candidates. That first debate and it's aftermath has been incredibly devastating to Trump in the polls. It's been a long time since a presidential debate has made this much impact on the race. Even Romney/Obama round 1 wasn't this decisive (in the end, Obama had better demographics and a better electoral map on his side, so he was never in any real danger that entire election). If Trump turns in the same performance as the first debate, barring some October surprise, he might as well stop running because he will not have the time to makeup the ground he has lost.

The VP debate happened last night......that is all These two are as bland as dishwater. Kaine... shut up. I'm not sure that wasn't Hillary wearing a Kaine mask. Maybe go decaf next time. Pence... I think you could punch him in the face and he'd apologize for getting in the way of your fist. ----- I don't envy the task of either of these men trying to defend their running mate.

I actually like Pence. Really wish he was at the top of the ticket. Wonder if he's (going to) posturing for the 2020 election should Hillary win this year?

That makes him smart. While it does come off as a douchey move... no laws were broken in doing so. No one would pay taxes if they had a legal way out of it. Let's not start standing up on our pedestals calling everyone out. Hillary and the Donald are more similar than different to be fair. Speak for yourself, I would. I believe in putting back into the system which help raised me and will help the next generation of youngsters. What makes it more indefensible is that these fucks have plenty of money.

We're 48 hours away from the most important day of Trump's campaign. Debate two will greatly decide what happens to his campaign. If he doesn't turn it around in debate two, his performance in debate three won't matter. He'll be too far out in the polls.
People forget that while Nixon lost the first debate to Kennedy, he actually went on to win the next two and tie in the last. However, all anyone remembers is the first. There's a very good chance that ratings will drop with each debate. Thereby, reducing their individual impact.

I truly hope Trump stays in the race—and that he loses this election worse than Mondale did to Reagan in '84.

What is happening right now is the most unprecedented event in US Political history.
In all my years of studying American politics, I have NEVER nor has anyone EVER seen the events we are seeing today. The RNC has officially pulled support for their candidate and nominee. That means they have pulled their field offices, he has been pulled from their fundraising banks, he has been pulled from their robo-calls and call centers. It is quite frankly, amazing. He is now left to run his campaign on his own dime and campaign donations (which is not enough to field any sort of ground game or get out the vote campaign). This puts him at a crippling disadvantage. It's like slitting a runner's achilles in the middle of a race. There is almost no recovery.
There was a field of 17 Republican candidates. The amount of stories that have leaked or come out in the last two weeks. Did anyone actually do oppo-research? The point of a campaign is to dig up dirt on your opponent. You're telling me that 16 other people couldn't have found dirt on Donald Trump? It's amazing. It characterizes the blundering of the Republican party. That no challenger could mount a serious run at him. That he was allowed to game the system for so long, and so many have been willing to accept his unfitness. Earlier I argued that Donald Trump was very much a character. There was no way we could believe half the things he said. That somehow him governing would bring out some type of level headed thought, which was clearly buried beneath the character. Nope. That tape behind closed doors. That's who he is. This isn't an act. Someone in this world is that disgusting. Anyone who literally supports him is condoning these comments and who he is.
The Republican party have only themselves to blame. It is astounding that a major party in the 21st century allowed their brand to be hijacked by a lunatic. That they would give someone the tools to undo their party's very existence with a smile on their face. Now, I do not believe all Republicans are bad. Republicans fiscally speaking have some solid policy ideas. However, much of that is being undone. When this election started I thought the Democrats had a slight chance to regain the senate, and no chance at the House. Donald Trump just gave them a chance. A major party in the 21st century threw out polls, survey groups, research, and decades of brand building on a lunatic who they knew was a ticking time bomb. It's amazing.
The Republicans will look back at this election and wonder what went wrong and where do they go from here. They have had back-to-back winnable elections. One against a weak incumbent, the other, a person no one trusts. And yet somehow, they found the one person she could beat. It's amazing that a major party could be that unintelligible. They will lose this election. Unless a report comes out about Hillary killing babies, they will lose this election, and badly. They have to find someone, the next Reagan, to lead their party back from danger. The Republican party has not been this damaged since Nixon. And this time, they do not have Ford in the White House to smooth over the blow. Instead, they'll have another four years wondering, what went wrong. In that time they HAVE to find actual political leaders who can be elected. Not Ben Carson. Not Donald Trump. Not Carly Fiorina. An actual politician who has accomplished something of public note. Speaking of actual politicians. One of the biggest casualties in this is Ted Cruz. Imagine if he hadn't endorsed Donald Trump in the end. He'd be riding that wave till 2020, and he almost assuredly, would be the nominee. Instead, that is gone.
In 24 hours is the debate, and I'm not sure Trump can do anything to stave off defeat. If he goes into that debate and brings up Bill Clinton's affairs. He will lose. If I am prepping him, I am giving him that message. If he has any chance to right the ship, then he has to give a full and complete apology without mentioning Bill Clinton. Other than that, I don't know, hope a bolt of lightning hits Clinton? An apology might not save him (he's already given two half-hearted apologies, so far), but it might save his party.
Right now the Republicans are DOA, with no clear path forward, no clear plan back. Instead, they are splintered into two. To the point, that if they turn their backs on Trump, they will lose half of their party. If they stick with Trump, they will lose half their party (their best case scenario is Trump dropping out or crying on national television to a full apology). Maybe one day they could claim that Trump REALLY wasn't a Republican, which in a policy sense he probably wasn't (which I have been stating for sometime). However, that won't be enough. Not nearly. The Republicans are stuck with Trump, and his reverberations for years to come, while the Democrats will have four more years (the Democrats could have nominated Martin O'Malley and probably would have won the presidency). We will see if they are tested four years from now.

Anyone with any semblance of self-respect would now refuse to back Trump. Anyone who still does is a complete uneducated wanker.

I constantly see news reports highlighting a danger of crazed clowns running around the nation. Personally, I found two of them on stage at Wash U tonight hoping to actually run the country! Scary, indeed.
