In his second term, Obama's doctrine was informally known as 'Don't Do Stupid Shit.' Well tonight all Trump needs to do is 'Don't Say Stupid Shit.'
Unlike Obama, I'm hoping Trump can be successful. #trump16

To think this c*nt is half-Scottish. His mother should have stayed on the Hebrides.
Worst thing we've ever given to the world. That, and golf.

Trump is coked out his head.... Sniff sniff. Clinton looks as if she's about to collapse, she doesn't know where she is. Bizzare stuff.

Stop sniffing, Donald. You're not the one with the cough. Seriously, these little things make a difference.

I hate when political candidates promote their website. It's tacky as fuck. And it's also 2016, not 2000. I do despair.

Wow...
Donald Trump ;we have a country that needs new roads, new tunnels, new bridges, new airports, new schools, new hospitals and we don't have the money
Hillary Clinton: maybe because you haven't paid any federal income tax for a lot of years
Donald Trump: It would have been squandered too, believe me
...on another point about tax - Hillary said Donald got a casino licence and hasn't paid any tax, to which he cut in with And that makes me smart
Incredible.

Trump has a very shaky start, but he's come on form since then.
He will destroy Clinton when we get to ISIS and Foreign Policy.

This is kinda what I expected.
Clinton can speak like a coherent politician because she is one. Trump rambles because he isn't an experienced politician, but he has behaved (for the most part).
Overall, dull. And we've learned literally nothing new.
I'm calling this a tie.

Unlike Obama, I'm hoping Trump can be successful. #trump16 Why? What quality does he have that is presidential? What makes you think he is the better candidate? What makes you feel he's qualified? I want to know why you think this way. There must be something I'm missing because you never say...

I just finished watching the debate (thank you DVR's!), and I must say, it was both funny and a little disappointing. We had Trump endlessly gloating about the size of his yuge business and cheap plug after cheap plug about how much he was so successful. But that is his platform, right? If he can't say (and just say, mind!) that he's a good businessman, then he'd lose all of his voters. Clinton did a lot better than I expected. And I'm not even a huge Clinton fan! She made her arguments very clear and forceful. And very much like a leader, mind! It's incredibly misogynist to think that a woman, least of all Hillary Clinton, could be incapable of asserting authority, regardless of what you think of her policies. You could say that Clinton "won" this debate from the mere fact that she had a great response to nearly every attack Trump made against her. Trump actually did a bit better in the debate than I expected, but I noticed that he told so many blatant lies that it was impossible to keep track of them, and sometimes didn't answer the questions. But lies have always been a foundation of his campaign, and if we're judging his performance based on how well he appealed to his voters, then he did a brilliant job repeating the same nonsense that his supporters happily drink up. Some other observations: - Little talk of Trump's wall? Maybe next time....
- Love how Trump was trying to say that he wanted to protect African Americans and Hispanics with stop and frisk!! And not only that, but only a few minutes before or after he was talking about the birther shit....great way to win the black vote Don!
- I didn't see any signs of Clinton looking weary or sick during the debate as batfink30 says...? She was incredibly sarcastic and biting in expression and manner. Perhaps he can point out to me when he noticed her showing signs of being unwell?
- Lots of back and forth attacks between Trump and Clinton...has Trump succeeded in turning a formal presidential debate into a verbal boxing match? Maybe he's a bit cleverer than we give him credit for....or the media is a lot stupider than we give them credit for.
Anyway, looking forward to the VP debate in a week because I still don't know that much about either Pence or Kaine....we'll see!

See I don't get this with you Beady’s Here Now - you claim to be a Republican but want Trump to win yet the Republican establishment of Romney, Bush, McCain etc, of whom you all admire (and fair enough - they are very credible politicians) have all denounced Trump and refuse to back him. Bush even says he's voting Clinton. So are you telling me that these guys are wrong? Answers please, I'd seriously like to hear your views on this. McCain has endorsed Trump. See here. It doesn't matter if he does it with reservations or criticizes Trump; if he does not backtrack on his prior endorsement, he still supports Trump. If he truly did not agree with Trump's policies (if you can even call them that), he wouldn't have endorsed him. Unless he said it only ensure that he will be re-elected. Even then, it reflects very poorly on McCain, because he's either someone who supports the racism and misogyny Trump spews, or he is willing to endorse someone whose views are in conflict with his to keep his position of power.
