I'm a really noel fan, and I love NGHFB as much as oasis, even I would prefer the first one. I always read in this forum that that song is his best 00' song, and it isn't bad tune for me, but I can't get that song like me... and I've tried many times!! The lyrics is brilliant, and is dark, but it isn't one of his 10 best songs, IMHO.
Although I think this song could be in the album, instead "jesus freaks".

Its one of my favourite NGHFB tracks I must say but is particularly special to me because.....I'll attempt to explain:
You know how you get really nostalgic with songs because you associate them with things that happened around the time you heard them? For instance you might get nostalgic when you hear Some Might Say because it was the song of your happy youth in the 90's, or the first album you ever bought which made you fall in love with music? or a song you used to listen to when you first went out with your other half for instance? You know that rush of nostalgia and happy memories you get because it reminds you of that time?
Well, Alone On The Rope somehow invoked that feeling to me on my first listen of it. It made me feel nostalgia even though I had no nostalgic memory associated with it. And to me, a song that can make you feel like that on the first listen? Powerful...

Well done for having the courage to say so. I disagree and thing it's a beautiful melancholy tune, almost akin to how to disappear completely by Radiohead. But I applaud you for putting your thoughts out there.
I suggested Definitley maybe had weak tracks last week and got a metaphorical kick to the face
!WORD!

That's maybe more to do with the fact that there are already a gazillion threads on certain subjects. Seems a bit arrogant and pretentious to make a thread just to say YOU hate something while there are hundreds of other threads about it flying around.

Dear friend, I don't hate this song, it is a good tune for me, and I think it must be in the album. I love the mayority of his songs, but I can't enjoy it as much as you. And I would like it would happen! I usually read this forum, and I love it! And my friends only listen comercial shit music, and I like speak with you about my favourite kind of music. But sorry so much if this thread isn't accurate. And sorry so much my bad english! Greeting!

I like it. And it would fit nicely on Coldplay's debut album, Parachutes. Also, I have a theory that Mean Mrs. Mustard is gdforever. Good tidings x.

I actually agree. A Simple Game Of Genius is my favourite of the two bonus tracks off NGHFB.

loads of oasis vibes in this, in one or another way Not sure I would connect Talk Talk to Oasis at a glance but that song is fucking great. Mark Feltham (harmonica on that song) did work with both bands though.

There are few songs in Noel's catalog, Oasis or otherwise, that have such a vulnerable and haunting texture. It's dark and foreboding, and it's a prime example of a sound that Noel should really explore. That's why I love it.

Alone On The Rope is one of those songs where Noel properly lets his guard down and shows us what he really wants to write about.
I'd take Alone On The Rope over 10 In The Heat Of The Moments, I'd much rather have that soulful quality than another faceless tune with a big chorus.

How do you know that's what he really wants to write about? I'm guessing that's an empty statement. I'll happily take as many faceless (??) tunes with big choruses as Noel's got. They're the reason Noel got anywhere and why he is held in high regard by so many. It's what Noel does best. It's In The Heat Of The Moment for me.
