Don't think we've done this....in the same way we rank the Oasis albums. I'm interested to seeing if there's a commonality in any of the placements, and any discourse this may bring up.
And yes. I fucking despise AM with all it's Heathen Chemistry uninspired filler like tracks, amongst good singles. Poor overall.
1. Favourite Worst Nightmare 2. Whatever People Say That's What I'm Not 3. Humbug 4. Suck It And See 5. AM

I personally think Am works very well as an album. 1.Humbug (So cool!) 2.WPSIATWIM 3. AM (2-3 are actually very close for me, I actually feel AM has better songs but the youth and energy and really good songs Wps, namely a certain romance help it come on top) 4. Suck it and See (used to actually be my favorite, because of the poppy sunn vibe, but after listing to the whole album it feels a bit empty. Also, some songs are lyrically weaker.) 5. FWN (Just never got into it as much as the others)
Great band, haven't released a bad album

1. SIAS 2. The rest
Don't really listen to much of the rest tbh, other than the odd songs, so they can go in any order

This was really difficult for me as I'm a huge fan of this band...
Humbug - not a popular choice but lyrically this is easily their best album, and musically it's the most intricate and interesting thing they've done. Dance Little Liar is incredible sonically, building up for minutes and minutes until that mind-blowing solo. This song is even better caught live, where they've tweaked the solo and Alex belts out the closing verse an octave higher than on the album. It's the sound of a band at their musical peak - a pleasure to listen to, and it contains the best Arctic Monkeys track, Crying Lightning, with its labyrinthine verses and unconventional structure.
Favourite Worst Nightmare - this was a big maturation in Alex's songwriting when compared to its predecessor. If You Were There, Beware is a suggestive, dusky marvel that almost foreshadows some of the stuff that came after it on Humbug. It still contained the energy of what came before, in the riotous Brianstorm, but the delightful Only Ones Who Know showcased a side of Alex's writing that would only fully surface a year later with The Last Shadow Puppets. The highlight for me would be Do Me Favour, this song carries so much momentum it's hard not to get swept up by it.
Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - a real kick up the arse to the UK music scene when this came out. Combines the sheer brawn of songs like Still Take You Home with the more refined moments such as Riot Van and Mardy Bum. The highlight of the album, A Certain Romance, falls somewhere between these two sorts of songs.
Suck It And See - it's like they took Humbug, calmed it down and made it a lot more easily accessible. The opening one-two of She's Thunderstorms and Black Treacle is one of my favourite album openings, and Library Pictures shows that they can still carry that energy of the previous three albums. Still contains some of the heavier stuff that we heard on Humbug in the menacing, riffy Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair.
AM - annoyed that I have to put this in last place, as I really enjoy this album, but something has to go here. To me, AM is their most forward thinking album. R U Mine is up there with the best things they've ever done and it's musical sibling, Do I Wanna Know? has a fantastic, after-midnight aura. Alex says he wanted AM to sound good in the car, and I can more than vouch for this as it's currently sat there in mine. The beat of songs like One For The Road sound great in this setting. Although AM is clunky in parts, hence it regrettably being placed in last (I'm looking at you, I Want It All), the absolute highlight here is Knee Socks, the outro where Josh Homme comes in on backing vocals is just magical.

I can't seperate them to be honest, they all have their good points.
The one i like to listen to all the way through best, without skipping tracks is Suck it and See to be honest.
And even though i like it i'd also put AM at the bottom, i hope they don't continue in that vain for the next album, but after the success they had with it, you couldn't really blame them if they did. I hope not though.

Suck It and See is by far my favorite. So many great songs on that album, and it doesn't sound as forced or "cool" as AM does, even though I do like AM

Actually very surprised seeing Suck It And See ranked first by many. Did not expect that. I just love everything about that album. The music is so well arranged, the songs are so great and smooth and yet powerful! Possibly one of my all time favourites The rest of their discography, other than the odd song, don't have nearly the same effect. I'm not really a big fan of the band (unlike much of the younger generation) For me, albums are more important than individual songs. I very very rarely listen to individual songs or "shuffle" etc, I tend to listen to albums in full because that way they mean so much more, and this album is damn near perfect. Another surprise to some perhaps is that my favourite song by Arctic Monkeys is also off that record - "That's where you're wrong". Just pure bliss, emotion, nostalgia, cannae beat it.

1. Favourite Worst Nightmare - There are so many great songs on this album. 2. Humbug - A bit weird and it's great because of that. 3. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - A bit overrated, but still very good. 4. Suck It And See - They sound a bit bored on this album, but there are great moments too. 5. AM - For some reason I never liked this album.

Favourite Worst Nightmare - mature, energetic, hints of a darker sound. Pretty much hints you with very good to great songs the whole way through.
AM - smokey and sexy. Metal riffs with g funk basslines and booming drums. I Want It All is the weakest song, but its not horrible.
Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - superb first album, really good for what it is. Just think the two above it are a little stronger in musically and songwriting wise.
Suck it and See - this is their DBTT. Really consistent summery songs. No bad tracks, but no truly outstanding songs. A very good album that boards on being great.
Humbug - I know a lot of the band's fans rank this as their favorite. Its kinda become a cult classic for them, but I just don't dig it. I'm not a huge QOTSA fan, but I appreciate what Josh did to their sound on later stuff. This is just a transition record that had to be done. Fire And The Thud, Dance Little Liar, Secret Door, The Jeweller's Hands, Cornerstone are all pretty good though.

1. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
2. Favourite Worst Nightmare
3. Suck It And See
4. Humbug
5. AM
Though I do quite like them all, AM I like the least. Most of the songs sound way too similar for my liking.
