ashcroft's prime has been ongoing for the last 20ish years. Good for him, but that's beside the point. The thread doesn't aim to compare the longevity of the two voices, because what would be the point? You couldn't pit Liam against any singer whose ever lived in that regard, he'd lose every time. The sudden decline in Liam Gallagher's vocal prowess is one of the most tragic things to ever occur in music. The thread only asks who hit higher peaks in their respective golden period. THAT is why it's a landslide victory for Liam.

Richard if you are reading this please come back, the world misses you. Well, THAT'S what he's up to all these years we haven't heard from him. He's secretly spending all his free time reading on Live4ever Seriously, I want to see him live, I've been waiting for so many years now. Over the last couple of months/years I've contributed some news from Richard I stumbled upon on a verve forum in other threads. At the moment, there are rumours because his website seems to be in progress. He also isn't listed in his old management anymore. Some forum member found out Steve Kutner (never heard that name but maybe you have) is managing him now, texted him and got this response: "Hi Elaine Thanks for your support for Richard. We are working on it. That's about it I'm afraid. It sounds amazing though. There will be a few impromptu acoustic gigs to work in some of the tunes but they will be in far off places. Regards. Steve Kutner" I guess Germany isn't considered a "far off place" though At least, we know he isn't retiring for good! Sorry for being slightly off topic, I just thought some of you may be interested.

Richard if you are reading this please come back, the world misses you. Why not start a bet on who will make the comeback first!? Liam or Richard?

Richard if you are reading this please come back, the world misses you. Why not start a bet on who will make the comeback first!? Liam or Richard? Richard Ashcroft Online According to the site on 13-8-2015 Richard has changed his management and is still working on the album, with a few impromptu low key overseas gigs. Given that this album was supposed to be out in 2014 I would say IF Liam is actually working on a record as has been rumoured (I know it's been denied but said did Noel's camp when he was actually working on his first NGHFB record) the I would say Liam stands a good chance of being first back in the public eye with new music. EDIT- Slightly off topic but good interview from 2011 with Ashcroft talking about, amongst other things, how when computer & headphone tech catches up properly with stereo sounds then alot of artists will be exposed for putting out poor quality records. Wether you agree or not he makes, I think, some interesting observations- Richard Ashcroft- Interview Magazine

Unfortunately you're asking a biased forum.... Both are great though - that video of Ashcroft.... At least it's not Liam vs. Damon In my experience, 99% of Oasis fans are also huge The Verve fans.

Oasis forum or not I never rated Damon as a singer. Artist, composer, frontman, even a man you can use for political or social quotes (I didn't say you have to agree with him) yes, but not a singer.

Also off topic but Kutner is a football manager primarily, with Claudio Raneri and Frank Lampard amongst others. Maybe Richard is finally getting to combine football and music like he wanted to in the early days. With Lampard's "Frankie's Magic Football" kids books maybe Mad Richard is having a positive effect on Frank as an author

For a comparison to Liam (love them both as front men and singers tbh) Wow! Absolutely amazing... I won't dare to pick one of them over the other. They're both definitely two of my favourite singers. Unfortunately with Liam, you always have to add "in his prime" I forgot to give a proper shout to Nick McCabe for somehow recreating the guitars AND strings atmosphere with one guitar! Martin 'Youth' Glover said that even live, Nick used to do things with a guitar that you would swear needed three guitarists and a programmer to pull off, and I agree one of the best and perhaps most underrated of his generation.

Hmm interesting, now I can see where you are coming from with that, especially if you refer mainly to 90's Blur albums, but trust me, Damon is a fantastic, powerful singer, with an incredible and unique voice, especially post-90's and particularly with on Gorillaz tracks and the Think Tank album.

I've got Damon's catalogue including his Gorillaz and solo work, and whilst I appreciate your views I stand by mine, and can't really hear a massive change in his voice over the years. Not to say the chap hasn't created some fantastic works, and has made those songs work for his voice, but he certainly is not in my opinion a great singer. Still good to here others thoughts on it, different opinions make forums work

I'd have liked that rumour that Ashcroft was replacing Liam on live dates back in 97 I think to have been true- certainly would have been a different front man experience if he went for the "A Storm in Heaven" era Richard!
