everybody's on the run: i don't know what all the fuss about that song is about. it was ok in the beginning, but it got pretty boring very quickly. it's too long, repeats itself too often.
riverman: basically the same what's wrong with eotr is wrong with riverman. interesting after a few listens, but been boring the shit out of me ever since.
the dying of the light: it's pretty okay-ish and i'm ok with hearing it every once in a while, but fuck me, it must be on of the most predictable songs noel has ever written. if one would ask me what your noel-by-numbers-capoed-mid-tempo-song sounds like, i would advise that person to listen to tdotl.
record machine & stop the clocks: does anyone actually rate them? destroyed by production and as boring as a donkey's arse.
all acoustic capoed live renditions of epic oasis songs: i'm thinking of champagne supernova, don't look back in anger and supersonic. especially champagne supernova. i truly hate it. so boring and fluffy and piss warm. it's beyond me how noel could butcher his own masterpiece to such a piece of boring anthem for your grandmother's birthday party.

I'll agree with acoustic Champagne Supernova and acoustic Don't Look Back In Anger.

How are Stop The Clocks and Record Machine overrated if hardly anyone really likes either of them?
Also, what's this nonsense of mentioning live versions?

That makes no sense. Now if it had come out and people would have gone nuts for it, THEN it would be overrated

Making it highly overrated ......and if he never would have said a word and just released it .......people would say it's a pretty good tune. Noel overrated it. As did most of this forum pre release ....

How are Stop The Clocks and Record Machine overrated if hardly anyone really likes either of them? Also, what's this nonsense of mentioning live versions? From 2002 to 2008 those songs always had me extremely fired up. The way Noel spoke of them I expected tremendous things. Sadly that did not occur. Both are rather ordinary. The mythology of those tunes was better than actually discovering them.

The mythology of those tunes was better than actually discovering them. Also Stop The Clocks has left us some unpleasant memory. I was disappointed when I finally got to hear this song btw. Noel's description of Record Machine from 2002-2003 was one of his best quotes about a song ever. "It's like Led Zeppelin doing The Beatles. It's got loads of guitar solos and is 10 minutes long."I got excited just writing that decade old quote! What the hell happened to this song? The demo and HFB version certainly aren't that. Would love to hear a Liam version. I know it exists despite Noel claiming it doesn't. It was recorded for 3 albums for crying out loud! (DBTT, DOYS, HFB). Stop The Clocks was poorly executed in studio. It definite needs to be properly polished. It needed a vintage organic sound with real mellotrons. The one used for HFB sounds like a cheesy Casio keyboard you have as a child. So tinny and artificial in sound. Not having it at all. It sounds like a mess and I prefer the demo or live version. Honestly, I could see the AA do wonders for a tune like Stop The Clocks.

And another song that is EXTREMELY overrated is "If I Had A Gun". The soundcheck version showed tons of promise but like Stop The Clocks it was poorly executed in studio. Dave Sardy and Noel made it too big in scope. It should have remained a more stripped back ballad. It sounds like a song trying to be a massive radio hit. Only got to #95 folks. The masses didn't give a shit. I much prefer AA's "Shoot A Hole" over the straight HFB one. The Dying of The Light was the studio direction Noel and Sardy should have taken with If I Had A Gun. Lots of mood and atmosphere on that song. It's not single material in my book, at least not in the year 2015 but it's a damn fine song!

I guess you've been around here for while though which obviously justifies why you believe your opinion means more than others. I get that now.
