Seeing as we've got a poll for Who Feels Love? I thought it would be an interesting idea to set a similar one up for one of the band's most polarising tracks, Magic Pie. Personally I'm a big fan of the song and consider it one of the highlights of Be Here Now. I think someone summed it up best when they described it as a sounding like a "failed classic" as it just doesn't quite have ' it'. The chorus could be a touch better (though I do like it and consider it to be very underrated)... the infamous "Magic Pie" lyric (which can only be result of cocaine fuelled confidence) is just that bit too weird and self indulgent... and the track overall just can't quite justify its 7 minute 20 second duration, however it's hardly alone in such department. For me however these things are relatively minor flaws and I still consider it being a great track and amongst the most underrated in the band's entire discography. If I had to rate it I'd probably give it a very solid 8 to 8.5 and rank it somewhere between 2nd to 4th best on it's respected album. Oh, and the "Mad Jazz" ending rocks... If you're gonna do something pompous and out there, at least make it fun. Thanks cocaine!

I rate Magic Pie very highly, as I do with the vast majority of Be Here Now. For one of the supposedly 'weaker' tracks, it has an excellent melody. It has some very investing guitar parts that are hidden away behind the wall of sound. The lyrics may be a bit suspect at times but I don't really care about that.

I remember the first time I heard that tune, I was like "Fuck, that's great!" It was the time when I was discovering the band, listening to songs Some Might Say, Slide Away, Half The World Away, and becoming a true madferit. I still really like that tune. I will rate it between 7.5 and 8, I suppose.

Destroyed by its awful chorus, poor lyrics and ridiculous length. 4/10.

It's a song about a pie, but is 7 minutes long and full of crazy guitar riffs and overproduced insanity. 10/10

I think it's the song that drags on the most on Be Here Now. There are so many better moments on the album for me.
I guess 7/10.

5.5-6/10
Kind of an average, coked-up Be Here Now song from this era with the usual too long for itself-ness. The verses are really good, but the chorus feels like a parody of what the verses had just accomplished, so it gets to be an unsettling feeling, and it's not helped by that bridge-like part after the chorus and the ridiculous outro after the last run through the chorus.

Typical example of a coked up lenghty BHN song, which wasn't bad in some cases, but is in this one. The song isn't terrible, but absolutely not great either. It's average. The verses are good, but the chorus ruins it and makes me laugh. It just sounds funny. I don't hate this song, but I don't listen to it often. Maybe I should revisit it.

This is a great song, it's just that its chorus is not up there with the rest of the song, the where-the-fuck-did-this-come-from jazz coda, Noel's overhyping the song before BHN's release, and the fact that it replaced fuckin' Stay Young on BHN lower its standing among Oasis fans. Had it been a b side people would've hailed it a classic!

I never really listen to it, it's too long, it never really clicked... And the title is awful.
