I couldn't think of a better thread title, but anyway: I'm just listening to Weeping Willow by The Verve and I once again realised how the start of that song, especially when Richard starts singing "When morning breaks", sends shivers down my spine almost everytime I listen to it.
side-note: Listening to Lucky man now, what a song, what an album. Thank you.
Are there any other songs you can think of that grab you right from the beginning because of a certain feature?

Champagne Supernova by Oasis for the sound of waves crashing on the shore.
While the Song Remains the Same by NGHFB for the incredible intro with the beautiful electronic touches.
I Wanna Be Adored by The Stone Roses for how it slowly builds towards the crash of the drums and the iconic guitar riff.
Under the Bridge by RHCP for that rush of melancholic happiness the riff brings.
Lastly, Nightswimming by R.E.M. for the orchestral swell and that wonderful piano.

Those drums on Live Forever get me every time.
Also on the Wonderwall live version at Rock in Rio 2001 when Noel plays that lovely intro.

The start of Love Spreads is 1:10 of tasty riffs and licks.
Weight Of Love by The Black Keys has a really nice dark, brooding intro.
DARE by Gorillaz has a unique intro, I really think Shaun Ryder helped that track.
The Rising Tide by The Killers starts with 30 seconds of playful synth that teases you until it gets going properly.
I've always liked the drums at the start of Cast No Shadow.
I'd probably also mention Lost! by Coldplay, the organ is great but I love that resonating, almost tribal drum beat.

Love "Weeping Willow". This song has some kind of atmosphere and only Ashcroft can sing it with his killer voice. I also agree with Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again. Here's some more (for me anyway): Gloria - Patti Smith Venus In Furs - Velvet Underground Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush Pshycho Killer - Talkng Heads Waiting For The Great Leap Foward - Billy Bragg Whirpool's End - Weller Wolves - Broken Records

Stereophonics - vegas two times
The soulful acapella intro that gets crashed by the drums and jones' electric guitar riff. What a way to open an album!
