Oh, the irony! This made me laugh.

It's also ironic that Noel Gallagher's 'High Flying Birds' are headlining a festival that was nearly cancelled in order to protect nesting ospreys

If he can't hit the notes anymore, he can't hit them. It's better he just sing another song than strain his voice anymore at this point in his career. Good decision I think. He can hit the notes though He can't fucking get the lyrics right, that's the thing I find that interesting. I'm pretty sure that his roadie put down (what looked to me to be) lyrics on the stage when they're setting up. It's in one of those plastic things that you sometimes see on desks and restaurants, I think they're called menu holders, which I assumed were lyrics and not just a set list because the set list was always printed out and taped down. From the way he played Lock All The Doors early, I always thought he was looking down so I assumed they were lyrics for that one. If so, he could've done the same for Mighty I. I do think it was the combination of all the factors - harder to sing, awkward notes to hit, lack of string backing etc. However, why not replace it with another HFB song rather than Whatever? He's played Whatever in 2009 (in Oasis), 2010 TCT gigs, 2012 HFB tour and now on this tour. Plenty of other songs that could get an airing...

He dropped it coz he realized it's a terrible, terrible song.
Finally.

Guys, he was tired of screwing up Marr's guitar solo.

Noel claims to not write lyrics down before recording an album because he keeps them all in his head...

Noel claims to not write lyrics down before recording an album because he keeps them all in his head... Which is why there are notebooks full of lyrics? Which doesn't mean he's still doing that now, of course.

Is anything Noel's ever said actually true?

Is anything Noel's ever said actually true? Definitely. Maybe. Don't believe the truth... <cringe>

I'm starting to doubt everything Noel has ever said that's documented. I mean, of course I have taken everything he says with a pinch of salt, but more and more things seem to be (partially) untrue.

I hope he drops 'Riverman' for 'It's Good To Be Free' next.

I hope he drops 'Riverman' for 'It's Good To Be Free' next. Yeah, he should open with that! That'd be a great surprise.
