May it just be the point in time they were recorded and the era they are assigned to - but I believe that Carnation and To Be Someone, the two The Jam covers Noel and Liam/Steve Cradock respectively, recorded for the tribute album "Fire & Skill" in 1999, would have fitted pretty well with the sound and general theme of Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants. They tend to appear on my fantasy tracklists, which I hesitate to post.

I think if Oasis had re-recorded some Heavy Stereo songs like Deja Voodoo or Chinese Burn as bsides, they would have suited Liam's voice. Hurricane #1's Step Into My World is also perfect for Liam's voice. Was probably written with his voice in mind back in the day.

Honestly I would have to say I wish Oasis had made " Can Y'see It Now? (I Can See It Now!)" And I know thats not exactly the point of this thread, but what I mean by this is I wish they had produced a real song out of it. It is definitely one of the greatest music pieces they ever made. Outstanding, in fact. If they had only written some proper lyrics to it (with Liam OR Noel vocals, or a combo of the two) it could have been one of the greatest songs Oasis ever did. Whenever I hear it I feel sad, because of what potential it has. I don't know if you're being sarcastic. I know I'm not when I say I fucking love that wee instrumental! Top!

I think Vertigo by U2 - think Liam's voice would have rocked on that song.

Bittersweet symphony
Stop and stare
Yellow
I think Liam's voice would have done all those serious justice

I remember (far before I got into Oasis) seeing To Be Someone cover by some guy called Noel Gallagher on winmix (anyone remembers it?! We've also had Kazaa!) and it caught my eye. Liam has doen a great job with Carnation cover.

Hurricane #1's Step Into My World is also perfect for Liam's voice. Was probably written with his voice in mind back in the day.Well they were pitched by the Alan McGee in the press as "The new Oasis" with Alex Lowe as Liam Gallagher- The animosity between the two incidentally ended in a punch up at a London nightclub NME 2000On a more track listing related note I have often wondered, given that Heathen Chemistry was essentially a back to basics rock n' roll album for Oasis, whether re-recording Chinese Burn in place of Hung In A Bad Place and Step Into My World & Only The Strongest Will Survive in place of (Probably) All In The Mind and say, She Is Love may have helped with the overall sound- not including the usual debate about who should have produced it. My answer to the latter incidentally is George Drakoulias or Rick Rubin The UK music press might have had something to say about this but IIRC the album got a cool reception anyway, particularly from Q Magazine, and the songs would not have been well known if at all outside the UK so it could have worked out well. Hey ho, hindsight thoughts on Oasis- who would have believed it?!

Got into them cos of Shack, I was old enough to actually remember Weed Bus coming out and Mick going on about them I loved their idea which was to start over wirth rock n' roll with different phases on each album to try and work out where it had gone wrong- shame they never got too far with that! Cheers for the documentary will have a look, though as a good blue nose I assume the title is a reference to LFC?

Yeah, I really want to get hold of Mexican R'n'B but want it on vinyl so think i'm gonna be waiting a while for that on ebay. It's on discogs but not paying those kinda prices... they are a really great band and shame they didn't get more recognition.
