Wonder how many Alcaraz can win? Can't see Djokovic not winning more grand slams given he's still so good, but give it a few years when he's retired and its a wonder if anyone can compete with Alcaraz in the coming years. I'm ignorant though, so anyone know any players coming through that look exciting?
Jannik Sinner (beaten by Djokovic in the s-f) is likely to prove one worthy opponent.
Although Djoko beat him in straight sets, it really was a matter a couple of points here and there.

It wasn't even close, what are you talking about 🤣 It is enough to see his girlfriend and that will tell you everything about that if he is gonna become good player. It isn't coincidence that Nadal, Novak, Roger and Andy all have long term relationships with normal everyday girls.

I'm ignorant though, so anyone know any players coming through that look exciting? I don't know any great new young player but I know that when Roger, Rafa and Nole were 20 years old, nobody could predict that they will have 20,22 and 23 slams. So, who knows... Also, they would never become as good as they are without each other. Novak wouldn't have 23 slams without Nadal and Roger, people think that it would be easier for him but he would never become this good and he would never be this motivated, even at 36. So, who knows and who can tell? People would expect from Carlos now to have good results every slam but he has like 15 or 20 more years to play. Even if he wins "only" 5 more slams, he would have 7 slams and become one of the greatest of all time. And winning 5 more slams in next 15 years means not winning on 55 slams, which some might see as failure but it would still be an incredible career.

It may be a 250+ event but that laughing by Toth when she won when opponent clearly in tears is stupid and uncalled for. Was it because she's Chinese you dense woman?

Petr Korda’s son, Sebastian, is looking like a potentially strong player and Holger Rune is tipped to be a future grand slam champion as well. Alcaraz appears to making that next leap which has been predicted for the last ten years plus. With Federer officially retired for a year now and Nadal practically retired, the crowds appear ready to say goodbye to the Big 3 and embrace the next big thing. Although someone may need to tell Djokovic that. His drive to succeed and ability to stay injury-free is outstanding.

It's just highlights how much tougher the competition has got over the last six years. Or once you turn 27 it's all down hill as a male tennis player. 😉

It is funny how idiots still don't understand that when you get Djokovic angry he plays much better.

Yeah, Novak is statistically GOAT but he is not gentleman as Roger and Nadal.

Djokovic said that he doesn’t have any regrets about not finishing his career alongside Federer.
“Yes, no particular regret or it would (mean something to me) to finish alongside Nadal. They are two of my biggest rivals – especially Nadal, as I’ve said numerous times – and that’s never going to change. The amount of energy spent on our rivalry during all these years, how many times we played each other (Djokovic leads head-to-head 30-29)… It’s impossible for me to play Alcaraz sixty times. That won’t be possible, because he will finish his career before me,”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wondering if this Australian Open was a turning point for the men's game.
Maybe signalling towards a post-Djokovic era, but that era won't be dominated by generational talents.
Alcaraz and co are brilliant players but his performance this year might suggest none of the new talent will ever achieve the peak and dominance of the sort seen by Djokovic, Nadal or Federer. It's been two decades of that dominance so we're used to it, but maybe time to accept that's not happening again any time soon.

It's been two decades of that dominance so we're used to it, but maybe time to accept that's not happening again any time soon. Well, I also think that there will never be new Roger, Rafa and Novak but I disagree with that part that Alcaraz performance this year might suggest that. Even when we are talking about 3 GOATs, they all have like 20+ years long careers, I think that Novak played 73 slams so far, Roger 84 and Nadal 68. So even GOATs win one slam and then lose two or three, it is really not big deal that 20 years old Carlos lost one, actually, it is very normal, even for GOAT standards. He needs in next 15 years to win one or two every year and he can become GOAT. And he can probably play and win something after he is 35. I don't think that he will do it but what I am saying is that has nothing to do with his his performance on Australian Open this year. Anyway, I am looking forward to new era, not everyone has to be Novak, Rafa and Roger. I think that Carlos and Jannik can win 7 or 10 or 15 slams and that is great. Tennis was great before, we had great rivalries and guys like Edberg, Connors, Agassi, Wilander, McEnroe, Lendl... they all have 6-8 slams and they are absolute legends of sports and it was absolute pleasure to watch them.
People are also talking about how Carlos is often injured and he is so young and they are saying that because of that he won't have long career. But nobody knows that. Young Novak had 1000 problems, injuries, breathing, eyes, allergies... he is healthier now than when he was 20.

It was believed that Nadal’s career would have ended by the time he turned 28 years old, due to injury… almost 10 years later he’s now considering retiring. I agree, it’s definitely too early to say how well the young guns are going to do. Jim Courier looked like he was going to be unbeatable and then Sampras started peaking. Federer, Nadal & Djokovic have been an anomaly and it’s been amazing to watch it all unfold, starting with Federer back in 2003. All three have managed to smash records which will be hard to beat. No matter which one is your favourite, they all spurred each other on to great things. Who knows what will happen in the future, but it’s looking like it’s in safe hands.
