hey there

im in a music class at the university of toronto and my prof has given me the liberty to pick any rock group/ artist to write a short 1500 word paper on... i was wondering if anyone can give me any direction on what i should write about ... a thesis i guess... anyways im leaning towards how they're from the north and that this has influenced them in their musical career since manchester during the late 80's early 90's was booming with musical talent etc etc... so if anyone can help me that would be amazing ... thanks

You could write about their historical context. Following the grunge movement and how they were worked into Brit Pop and the myth of 'Cool Brittania'. How they came at the right place at the right time. What made them so massively popular, etc...

What would be interesting, perhaps your assignment is too short for this, is to track how Noel (and Liam) made a life out of nothing. How poor their childhood was with the conditions they grew up in and their dad an abusive alcoholic. And yet they were able to grow up (well not Liam haha) and become what they are today. Add to the fact that Noel is dyslexic! Look at his lyrics, they are ace! the man's a genius.
