It's been a few days, and I think I've finally come down enough to talk about it all.
So Tuesday was epic. My brother and I got tickets for the House of Blues show in Cleveland, which would be his first time seeing Noel or any Oasis-related band. Since the floor was general admission, we got there at 8:30 a.m. We were the first ones there because were nuts. Anyway, a few other hardcore fans showed up during the next few hours, and we met the now-famous Courtney, her friend Melanie, Courtney's mom and the super-awesome John.
Around 11ish, we learned that if you spent $20 in the HoB gear shop, restaurant or bar, you got to get into a special line that let you bypass the main line. We obviously did this, which meant we all got to wait in this somewhat smelly service hallway. Still, it meant we were guaranteed to be first, and it meant that we were out of the cold and the wind. It was only in the 60s in Cleveland that day and very breezy.
The people around us were really cool, and some of us came and went to get food, use the bathroom, etc. Around 3, we went outside to wait for Noel's tour bus in the hopes of getting autographs. We found more fans waiting on the sidewalk, and by the time Noel rolled up around 4:30ish there were a good 30-40 of us. I'd heard he was a bit grumpy at the Detroit show two days prior, but he was polite and walked down the line to sign for everyone. He signed my original Definitely Maybe vinyl and a poster I got for the new album, and I showed him a picture of the two of us backstage at a concert in 1999 (first time I saw the band). His response: "I haven't changed a bit. *pause* Can't say the same for you, though!"
I was floored. He made a joke at me!
Then it was just about passing the time until the show started. The hallway steadily filled up to the point where I think just about everyone who had a floor ticket opted to go this route. We were still first, and when we were let in at 7 my brother and I secured spots front and center against the railing.
Noel did look to be struggling with his voice a little bit, but that might just have been because I've never come close to being this close to him during a performance. Lock all the Doors, You Know We Can't Go Back, Do The Damage were some personal highlights, but not THE highlight.
As he started to play Champagne Supernova, Noel looked right at me. When he came out, he scanned the front row and you could tell that he knew a few of us from having met us earlier in the day. So as Champagne Supernova is starting, Noel looks at me, nods his head and mouths, "For you." You can see it at the :22 mark of this video:
Well, I started crying. He winked at me at some point in the song too. I still can't believe that happened.
Talk about a night I'll never forget. I got a few pretty great photos, but I didn't take too many because I wanted to actually be in the moment and not watching through my phone screen.

nice story. people can say what they want about his gigs, he doesn't play long enough, the setlist never changes, some nights he's grumpy. but to me when you shell out your hard-earned $$$ to see him perform he's worth every god damn penny.
