I was born in 1994 and my music background is basically strange: 0 - 11 yr old: I used to listen to an italian rock singer-songwriter Ligabue because my dad likes him. He's huge in Italy Here's him 12-13: Initially Finley, a cheesy pop-punk italian group. They were big when I was young, now the play gigs in pubs lol I'll never forget the hype around this song. Then, don't know why, I got into Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd and other Hard Rock bands. Probably because I started a program in school where we had a chorus and a band (I played the guitar) and I formed a band. At 13 I did my first gig with the school in front of 2.000 people and I played electric guitar on Imagine, Knockin' on Heavens Door, But I still haven't found what I'm looking for etc. After that High school came and I became a fan of Green Day. It was about 2008-2009 and I was 14-15. At the same time I remember clearly me listening to Live Forever on the way back home. I started listening to other Oasis songs like Stand By Me, Wonderwall (Jools Holland live on my phone), Don't GO Away and Don't Look Back in Anger. Meanwhile in 2010 I had a little time when I used to listen to pop music, like I got a Feeling from Black eyed peas. Then I got into Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd and stuff like that And finally I became a Mad fer it. The end.

5-11: Only superficial interest, loved Graceland by Paul Simon and...Erm...I Can't Decide by The Scissor Sisters 11-12: Hear The Scientist by Coldplay, instantly fall in love. Listen repeatedly and love it more and more, then see the video. Oh my god. Listen to Yellow, Viva la Vida, Paradise, Clocks, Fix You ect...think Coldplay is the best band ever. Also massively into Urban Hymns at this time - bewitched by how cool the name Ashcroft is, how cool he looks, and cool the album is. Pretty fucking cool. 12-13: Find The Beatles and decide they're rather good. Still mainly listening to Coldplay when one night I watching The Royle Family and I ask my dad who sings the theme - he tells me it's Oasis - I knew about Liam and Noel being brothers but thought they'd split up like 15 years ago. Hadn't heard Wonderwall or anything and thought Oasis was a duo. I listen to Half the World Away and then everything else in like 2 days - become obsessed in a way only the Gallagher brothers can produce. Love the swagger, the optimism, everything. Around this time, I buy The Bends after being annoyed by everyone saying how great this fucking Radiohead is. And...I absolutely hate it. Oasis now the best band ever. 13-14: One day I decide to revisit The Bends and see if I could hear anything other that the unnessecary noise and boredom I first found - I could. It's amazing. I listen to it in full about 7 times in one day, and am totally possessed by Fake Plastic Trees. Sometime later I listen to Ok Computer, and it grows slowly. Airbag didn't do anything, Paranoid Android seemed a swirling mess but then Subterrean Homesick Alien started and I thought "here we go" - liked the rest but preferred The Bends. Don't really remember the rest clearly but suffice to say Radiohead are now firmly my favourite band. Later on I listen to this old guy called Bob Dylan (stupid name I thought) and immediately decide he sounds like death doing an impression of a scared cat. I take a look at the lyrics to distract myself from the vocals and clearly the fact that this man is the greatest songwriter ever is obnoxiously apparent. 14-15: Thanks to Radiohead I find Sigur Ros, Aphex Twin, Bjork, The XX, Brian Eno, REM, and many others. Also The Smiths, The Stone Roses, and the rest of The Verve come into the frame. Listen to loads of everything, loving most. Except Green Day. They're shit. Anyway, towards the end of the year I come across an album on the weird side of Youtube by this girl called Soko called I Thought I Was An Alien. It's nighttime and I'm bored so I give it a go, and predictably I fall completely in love with the weird sexy French girl who dresses up as aliens to dance. The songs are gorgeous, the vocals are gorgeous, she's gorgeous. This was my first time having that experience of finding an album that isn't famous, by accident, that not many know and loving it completely. I now spend time every night starting with some hipster album and just clicking on names that intrigue me. Thanks to this I've found Sarah Jaffe, Iron and Wine, Funeral Suits, Clams Casino, and this completely unknown little group called Beady Eye. 15-Now: I love everything except country and heavy metal. And I still want to cry every time I hear The Scientist.

I sort of spoke about this on another thread.
Until the age of ~11 I had zero interest in music. The only specific songs I remember remotely enjoying before this age were 'Kernkraft 400' - Zombie Nation, Scooter's cover of 'The Logical Song', 1 or 2 Robbie Williams singles and that 'Who Let The Dogs Out' song - haha. Like I said, zero interest.
After that multiple things quickly fell into place. As my parent ran a B&B from our house, we often put CDs and the Radio on for guests whilst eating breakfast in the morning. We had a couple of mid-2000's NOW! CD's, Parachutes and X&Y by Coldplay, Stadium Arcadium by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a few more which I forget ((WTS)MG? may have even been there?). Soon after this we got Sky TV and on the music channels I found the music videos to 'Give It Away' (RHCP), 'Morning Glory' (Oasis) and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (Nirvana) which immediately became my 3 favourite songs. I also got my first MP3 player from my Dad's friend with about 25 tracks he put on (though 10 of these were poppy Middle Eastern tracks that clearly came with the device and hadn't been deleted - ha. They didn't get many plays). Stuff like 'Paradise City' by Guns N' Roses and some 70's rock, Led Zeppelin and maybe Boston were on it. In addition to this, I began playing guitar around this time and played a few Oasis tracks, some stuff by The Verve, 'House of The Rising Sun', etc.
Up until the age of about 17 or so I basically had the same taste of music as my Dad, though whilst Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd were his favourites, mine were stuff more like The White Stripes, Oasis, Nirvana, RHCP and Guns N' Roses. One day my Dad went on iTunes and downloaded 4 of his favourite albums he listened to presumably back in the late 80s early 90s. These were Fishermans Blues by The Waterboys, The Eight Legged Groove Machine by The Wonderstuff, Levelling The Land by The Levellers and Doolittle by the Pixies - the last of which soon became a revelation to me. The Pixies didn't immediately hit me at first, (except for maybe 'Crackity Jones' and 'Debaser') but things soon grew on me and before I knew it I had a new favourite album and a new favourite band, a fact which still stands to this day.
Since then I've moved away from stuff my Dad liked and found my own stuff. Mclusky, Future of the Left, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Death Grips, Beastie Boys, Frank Black, The Breeders, Primal Scream, Shellac, Sugar, QOTSA etc. are all on pretty heavy rotation. What will the future bring? Who knows? If I had to guess right now, going off stuff I'm listening to at the moment, I reckon Aphex Twin, Big Black and more music from Hip-hop and Electronic genres. We. Shall. See.

0-9 nothing basically, I had zero interest in music, the only thing I remember vividly is my father watching mtv music on Sunday morning and me sitting next to him (that's probably why when I listened to TIOBI, Falling Down and I'm Outta Time for the first time they sounded familiar)
9-12 I became kind of a casual listener, I liked Lady Gaga, Kary Perry and all that shit that was on the radio, but I wouldn't say music was a big part of my life Then I got into Green Day a little bit, but just the well known songs
12-15 I discovered Oasis once, and when I listened to DLBIA that was kind of the turning point, I started getting really into them, and then got into the likes of the Sex Pistols, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian and started my "journey", I became obsessed and I was willing (still am tbh) to discover new bands

My mom was 17 when I was born in 1989. So you can just guess how that was like... Loud music, 24/7. On one station, they were playing U2, Madonna, The Who, Eric Clapton, and whoever else, on another it was dance, R&B, and all that pop stuff then, and then one station that popped up played Nirvana, R.E.M, Portishead, and all that stuff that wasn't top 40. I danced pretty much all day, everyday, to dance music. So it really made my mom happy the other week when I was singing and dancing the whole time when we went to see Noel, probably something she hasn't seen me do since I was 7. When I was 7-12 I learned to play some piano, was in choir, and got into classical/jazz music and musicals because of school. I was watching VH1 one day with my mom, and they had some documentary on and The Beach Boys were mentioned, and I remember telling her I liked some of their songs, so she brought home one of their compilations for me. At the time, she had some live Phil Collins CD in her car, and I liked listening to it too. Used to point out all the Stevie Wonder and Tom Jones stuff I knew on the radio too. When I was 12-13, I was learning to play the cello, but I'm left handed and my right hand is weak, so it ended the same way as the piano. I was listening to pop music mainly (likewise when I was 7-12), but I liked U2's "Beautiful Day", and had it among one of my mixed CDs I burnt back then. When I was 14, I got my first iPod. Which was great, because at the time I met people online who used to love shoving their music in my face, and so I used to load everything on it. That's how I got into UK pop music. Around that time I met some guy who used to want me to listen to the radio with him on weekends, so lots of Radio 1/2, and Virgin (now Absolute). When I was 16, I decided not to go to orientation for whatever reason, and stayed up really late watching PBS. I remember being half asleep and The Royle Family came on, and I was like, "wow" at those bits of Half The World Away that play at the start. At the time my life was falling apart, and it really represented my feelings at the time. I fell asleep after that, woke up when the credits were rolling, and was thinking about it all that week before I finally got it on my iPod. Two weeks later, I was listening to the UK Top 40 and The Importance of Being Idle went to number one. And from there, it all just happened... The Masterplan, and Don't Believe The Truth, and the rest of them. And it was kind of weird, because at the same period, Richard Ashcroft, Jarvis Cocker, and Morrissey all had solo albums out, so I was really into all of that at the same time. And now I'm 26.

0-8: Don't remember what music I liked, or showed interest in my early years, but my mom has told me that when I was really young, and would lay me down for naps, she would always either turn on a different type of music or read to me. At around 5 years old, I do remember listening to the country station my dad always had on in the garage, listening to the songs, and even pretending to be like the radio announcer on there. In that year, I do recall having songs from Trace Adkins, Alan Jackson, and George Strait on my little MP3 player that I still have today that I got for my birthday one year, when that became popular, and having a CD player with headphones before that. 8-11: I was big into watching Nickelodeon, and was a big fan of the Naked Brothers Band TV show, so I heard them one day on Radio Disney, when I was 8 years old & started listening to that from then on. Through Radio Disney, I got into being a fan of (and I feel no shame in saying this ) shit like the Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, and other pop stuff that played. After a little while of listening to that, I found the countdown on Sirius Hits 1, and listened to that. That lead to listening to loads of mainstream top 40 pop stuff all the time, and just liking whatever came on the radio, with no real defined favourite bands or anything. 11-14: During the summer of my 11th year, I started to listen to classic rock, thanks to one of my dad's friends showing me different songs by Motley Crue, Fleetwood Mac, and others. I soon found an awesome classic rock station out of the Eastern part of the state (Z99) that played some really cool stuff that most others stations wouldn't, and started to develop a taste from listening to that. My favourites soon became Lynyrd Skynyrd, Boston, The Eagles, Aerosmith, and Steve Miller Band. In my 12th year, I became a born again Christian, and my taste shifted towards that. The classic rock stuff still was prevelant, but not nearly as much as I had before. Around my 14th year, I began to get more into listening to some top 40 pop music, but it was a nice balance. 14-present: While on vacation to NC, RHCP was playing on an alternative station I was listening to, and as I listened to it (the song was either Dani California or Snow, don't quote me on it lol), I absolutely loved it. When I got back to the hotel, I downloaded a 6-7 of their songs to listen to on my MP3 (not the same one from when I was 5, for the record). I started to listen to their station Pandora over the summer, and started to love their music. Along the way, I found other bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and Weezer, but nothing quite stuck, until I found Oasis. It was a slow progression into really understanding their brilliance, and that they were my favourite, but I think that came some time around last year. Since then, it's been fun to get into the solo projects, while taking inspiration from Noel, and try to expand my taste from just RHCP, The Stone Roses, Oasis, BE, and NGHFB. I'm thankful for that, as it's lead me to some cool bands like Coldplay, U2, Elephant Stone, Blur, R.E.M., Arctic Monkeys, and Radiohead, among others I hope to still discover. (Must thank RHCP, Oasis, Foo Fighters, and Nirvana, specifically for their MTV Unplugged performance of About a Girl, for getting me interested in playing guitar & singing. It has since lead me to writing lyrics & songs, joining choir at school, and finding a whole new happiness in music that I never discovered before, all in the last ~21-22 months. It's been a whole lot of fun, and I can't wait to see what it brings next.)

0-8: Can't remember those years well, but I know thanks to my Grandfather (who was a PTSD suffering war vet from New Guinea's campaign, Tambu mainly) I have a love for Russian opera, the one thing that he ever instilled into me, except a hate for Collingwood but that's another thread. 9-13:Oasis (Youu happy now Beady’s Here Now), Robbie Williams 15-present: Started exploring prog rock and metal (shut up), also a lot of power metal. Also into European death metal (can't get into the American stuff)

I can pretty much just list every artist I've ever been into onto a fanatic level, in order:
Michael Jackson - used to absolutely idolise this guy. Not so much anymore but I'd still consider him a musical icon of mine. Favourite song, 'Billie Jean'.
Guns N Roses - They were my brother's favourite band which rubbed off on me a fair bit. Favourite song, 'Welcome To The Jungle'.
Eminem - I used to listen to this guy religiously. Lyrical genius, without a doubt my favourite rapper of all time. Favourite song, probably 'Till I Collapse'.
Nirvana - Went through a phase when I was 11, dark stage of my life. Great music though. Favourite song, The Man Who Sold The World. Yes, I know it's a Bowie cover!!!!
Arctic Monkeys - thought these guys were the dog's bollocks. Favourite song, 505.
Oasis - Changed my life forever. Don't know where I'd be if I hadn't discovered them. Favourite song, Little James of course.
The Stone Roses - The coolest fuckin band that ever was. Favourite song, I Wanna Be Adored.
The Beatles - They've been with me my entire life as my Dad is a big fan of there's. One of the first songs I ever learned on guitar was Yellow Submarine.
The La's - Been listening to The La's probably just as long as I've been listening to Oasis but I only properly fell in love with them this year. Favourite song, 'Something I Said' or 'There She Goes', which I believe is the greatest pop song ever written.

0-9 All I really remember is being obsessed with Queen and Michael Jackson which I must say could be worse for someone of that age. I was obsessed because my Dad used to play it a lot in the car and at home. I was really susceptible to what my parents loved. I loved motown during this time. I also remember being into crap like S club 7 and Shakira( think I had a crush. Still do) but underneath the crappy childhood stuff was Queen and Jacko.
10-13 I still loved the classic stuff but I also was peer pressured and began liking hip hop and Sum 41( don't hate me blame American Pie). Lots of Jay z which I now still like a little. The Need for Speed soundtrack was pretty rad in my eyes at this age.
14- 17 This was when it all changed and I really heavily got into the 60's, 70's and all that it influenced Oasis included. The Beatles really changed what I loved about music and was immediately obsessed with them. Began getting into all that Brit stuff like The who, Kinks, Stones, Jam, Small faces( Amazing band that don't get enough credit on this forum). I really liked Oasis but wasn't obsessed like I am now was just into Morning Glory and Def Maybe. Saving Oasis for next chapter in my life.
18- Present Oasis began to take over my life and it was all I loved for a good few months where it was all I listened too. They were the reason I starting playing guitar. The first song I learnt was Half the World Away which is quite easy( still love playing it today). My parents and whole family is English (Liverpool and Manchester) So music was always in my blood along with the British Culture. I am more diverse nowadays and listen to loads of new bands hoping to find the next big thing. Right now the only bands/musicians that I always come back to and consider my favourites are Oasis(obviously), The Beatles, Kinks, Zep, Floyd, Jam, La's, Roses, Bob Dylan, Queen and T-Rex. In terms of newer artists from about 2000 onwards(not even really modern anymore) are The Strokes, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, some Kasabian, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Tame Impala. I know I've missed a lot but right now all I can think of.
I can't wait for the future as I'm still discovering some great 60's and 70's stuff. Hope in the future I can discover even more! Its fair to say music is my life.

I grew up with Soul, Disco, Classic Rock & Roll, Post-Punk, New Wave, and a little bit of Punk when I was very young in the 80s.
Late 80s I listened to a lot of Thrash Metal.
Early 90s was a lot of things for me actually...Hardcore Techno...Trip Hop...Hip-Hop (mostly the stuff from New York)...and the more alternative acts like Slowdive... which led me to...
1994...Oasis...Supersonic...I became a bit obsessed about that band from that year onwards...
1995 - 2000...(outside of Oasis) Fluke, Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Cornershop, The Charlatans, Suede, The Verve, and lots, lots of other acts and bands...
From 2000s... discovering The Stone Roses was a highlight. Also The Chameleons. Duffy. And...The Fleet Foxes.
Currently more into the 60s and 70s rock...lots to discover and to be mind-blown about...
Still listen to many other kinds of music. But Oasis remains unaffected by it. It's outside of all of it.

Pretty much my brother and parents listened to Rock since I was 2. The first band I truly got into was Queen (when I was 5); I loved Freddie Mercury's voice with a passion at that age, and it's the band I like the most (the "first place"'s shared with Oasis) because I have some emotional connections to some of their songs. One of the main reasons why I feel pretty much distressed when I listen to Innuendo. As for other musical genres... I got into Indie around 2010, but nothing really big. Can't really remember when I got into some Disco musics. But I can remember that I got into the "vaporwave" genre (although it was a joke more than anything) last year.
