I get that this is one of Oasis' all-time greatest gigs, but does anyone think Liam's voice sounds a little strange for the time? It sounds more like HC-era Liam. hmm..

He's too nasally on this gig. Way too nasally for this era of his voice.

Vocals at Maine Road were much better, superseded only by those of Earls Court in '95

The first night is definitely the better one. Earls Court 1995 was his peak

Liam was still in his prime.

I recently listened to a gig that occured a few days before Knebworth and his vocals were way better there.

It is a relatively poor vocal from Liam; as others have said it's excessively nasal.
Maine Road was by far the better gig.

I recently listened to a gig that occured a few days before Knebworth and his vocals were way better there. Loch Lomond, exactly a week before Knebworth. They were more relaxed and still great gigs.

Am I the only one by the way who thinks the drums during the Champagne Supernova solo are way too heavy?

He sounds pretty bad imo, not only is it nasal, he dragged on and stressed certain words way too much

my memory of loch and knebworth are vivid but i haver to admit i was hammered live at the shows he sounded the same at both loch and knebworth to my memory , he definatyly sounded louder at earls court but thats indoors
honestly EXCEPT FOR MAIN ROAD i thought the outdoor gigs i caught between (96 and finsbury park) knebworth loch wembley and finsbury pk LIVE AT THE GIG he sounded great and i couldnt leave the gig saying one was better trhan the other
MAINE ROAD i was in the 8 th row and he sounded unreal definatly his best ...and city of manchester i was 4 th row but i did hear a slight difference power wise not much
guess the you tubes concerts will tell better ( if qualitys are the same ) but live at the gig i thought he was spot on ( except when babbling drunk ... )
edit WHY DID I GET OLD just talking about those gigs makes me want to go back and relive .....had no commitments , a great gig bartending and doing security , travellled to uk on a whim .....now its all about life wat a drag it is ....... (as mick says )

For someone who wasn't often very sober during gigs it's actually impressive how great he sounded before 2002.

Probably down to the fact that he was playing to 125,000 people outdoors. He probably couldn't hear himself ad well as he could at the gigs were he sounded at his very best (Maine Road etc.). Still fantastic vocals though, and still the greatest pair of concerts of all time

I think it was because he was pissed.
