No no no we can't be skipping any Beatles album! Every album is a great listen regardless of what you believe is superior or what followed. I love their Beatlemania phase as much as everything that followed 65 onwards. Pure pop masterpieces.
As for this album, how come nobody mentions the cover Boys? I'm prone to the good old Ringo number definitely, but this is a big miss for me. Apart from that, I can listen to it all.

He always looked like he was having so much fun when singing it. Also love the "Alright George" but right before the solo. It's a tad naff that they changed all the lyrics so it wouldn't be weird EXCEPT FROM THE GODDAMN CHORUS.

Personally, I'd still be up for doing these but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be enough demand for the early albums. Does anyone want to start a Rubber Soul thread?

"The Elimination Round That Never Ended" Please Please Me was my first Beatles vinyl I ever bought, followed by A Hard Day's Night. No bad songs for me here. Not one. I enjoy the single version 45rpm of Love Me Do much better than the PPM version cause the recording is better.

Chains
A bit surprised by the reaction, and people's opinion on the record. I love all the Beatles records, but independent of that Please Please me is a great album, and a great debut, every cut apart from Chains (and maybe misery) is gold. And mostly cut in a day. Baby It's You, Anna, Boys and Twist and Shout are all classic covers

basically we don't get any bad songs until the next album, With The Beatles. 2 bad songs lie there:You Really Got a Hold on Me, and of course Little Child. Well they aren't technically bad songs, but I especially hate YRGAHOM million times more than Little Child; and for the love of GOD please guys, DO NOT bash Hold Me Tight! I love that song! Its a fun jam to play on guitar.

I'm back. I couldn'tcome here for a few days but now it's ok. Do you want to continue on this album ? I saw some requests, some people wanting to go to Rubber Soul, others wanting to continue on PPM. And for the debate as to what would be the first great Beatles, I would say Rubber Soul. On this one, there are classics like In My Life or Girl. Rubber Soul is in the fact, an album where Lennon signs the most impressive stuff compared to the others. Besides these two ones, he wrote Nowhere Man and Norwegian Wood. We really feel the Dylan's impression on John. He is the boss on this album even if Paul wrote Drive My Car and We Can Work It Out, that are great songs.
