1D for me. A couple of their songs are listenable... irritating, but listenable. What I've heard from Bieber was pure crap.

By all accounts, they both release torture to the ears.
But by all accounts, Justin Bieber comes across as an extremely unpleasant human being, and that's forgetting about the music.
One Direction - at worst, they are irritating nuisances - they are like the common cold in human form. But I don't get the impression they are a nasty bunch at all - I'm sure they're perfectly fine. So I'd go for One Direction purely on the personnel.

Just think: 50 years ago teenage girls screamed for The Beatles who wrote their own songs and played their own instruments, all sung without the aid of autotune.
Todays lot are screaming for absolutely nothing.
