They're quite clearly not doing Glastonbury. I'm not going to read too much into Michael Eavis's comments anyway, given a lot of stuff he says about headliners turns out to be untrue.

There is a noisy article which says "Liam and Noel? Possibly. But they could get anyone together and call it Oasis and no one would care."
Why are they slating the Gallaghers especially agter the Noisy Liam G film?

But it would make absolutely no sense to do that in the middle of Noel's solo tour and at a festival filled not necessarily with fans. They could not even profit from any kind of new interest, with Noel continuing his solo career and Liam maybe going back into his hole. Could only be a one-off, but a rather weird one. Also, did not the "source" at the root of all this say "next year"? And we did not even believe him/her/it, did we?
Or maybe, as he is not saying anything so far, maybe it is Noel with someone else?

I have a sneaking suspicion that that Glastonbury thing will include Noel, I cant believe they wouldve overlooked him after he said he would do it, maybe he will join up with blur or something.

Also Oasis have bombed at Oasis twice - the Glastonbury crowd could clearly give a shit. If they were to reform for one show, why Glastonbury? They could sell out their own venues for their own gig, get a better reaction and make a shitload more money. Utter rubbish.
I'd love NGHFB to do the Sunday show, though...

2004 glastonbury was just really shitty timing imo, they just brought on zak starky and they were playing at a plodding speed, Liams vocals went through a really weird patch and the sound mixing was atrocious.
had it been around that 02 era or in early 05 they probably wouldve done a better job, even 08 probably wouldve been better, beady eyes set was much more energetic imo.
1995 glastonbury was fine they just played some new tracks that no-one knew, Liam was on top form that night.

Form what I've heard of Glastonbury 1994 the band were on absolutely top form. Liam was still singing the falsettos of Live Forever as well.

So Emily Eavis has explained what's happening better than Michael (as always).
I suppose Noel could fit into that, but the wording of "penultimate" suggests that act won't be classed as a headliner and I don't think Noel would accept that given he's headlining everywhere else in the UK. I don't think he'll be the final headliner either.

Aren't Alt-J subbing on Sunday? He could still co-headline

Aren't Alt-J subbing on Sunday? He could still co-headline That's what I thought but I suppose them playing 3rd down is possible. As I said, "penultimate" suggests it's not co-headliners to me but you might be right. Not sure Glastonbury would go for the whole co-headliners thing but they apparently tried for it in 2009 so it's possible it could happen this year.

I don't see Glastonbury going for him as a headliner though and his comments the last time he was asked about it suggest he isn't playing.

Weren't there rumours of the last headliner being booked just a few weeks ago? Plus everybody who's been suggested has said no when asked if he/they was/were playing,so I wouldn't take it too seriously But yeah he is not going to be there

Plus everybody who's been suggested has said no when asked if he/they was/were playing,so I wouldn't take it too seriously But yeah he is not going to be there Yeah the main rumours seem to suggest the headliner(s) was booked within the last couple of weeks, which is why acts like Blur are back in the frame even though they've previously ruled themselves out. If they were booking an act late on I think they'd be more likely to go to someone like Damon Albarn or Chris Martin (rumours he was involved somewhere with the booking of the final headliner) who have a long relationship with the festival ahead of Noel. Saying that, Noel's not a bad option to fall back on.
