... Chasing Yesterday ranked lower in USA billboard charts than Albarn's last solo album, Everyday Robots.

Well albarn is behind Gorilaz who were more sucessfull in america than Oasis in the 2000's... so there's that.

I'd venture to say that blur was also taken more seriously in the U.S. As well. Song 2 and beetlebum still get radio play here and the band is seen as less of a one hit wonder. I don't agree with that stance, but that's the general consensus.

I'm saying this because Noel's first album made some success over there, so I was expecting with CY, and also CY is more acessible than Everyday Robots.

Well Damon charted at #32 when streams weren't counted yet, Noel's album would have peaked at #21 if it wasn't for them

idont know about where it would have charted with streams , noels first lp was a blip on usa charts , if thats some success then ok ...no argument , there usually is a dip in sales for the second if the first was not huge unless there is a breakout single ( there was not ) so no suprise .
as for blur song 2 has been a staple on rock and pop radio since its debut even heard it in texas , and ive yet to hear even wonderwall yet here .
as I have said before there simply is no buzz by the kids ( who buy music) about noel solo or beady eye , so they will never sell well in states whether you count streams or not ,
but people do know song 2 here its played at arenas in sports its played alot so m,aybe there name sold it ? the name OASIS i think would have debuted here higher than blur though , the kids no OASIS just most dont put gallagher with that , they say the brothers , but the usa is full of kids that no crap about music sop who cares about the chart

They have been playing Champagne Supernova here everyday. I do hear Wonderwall a lot, and I think Live Forever once. But I'm not really a radio person for the most part.

Anyway his first record wasn't that successful in the USA,same for this one,but he hasn't done anything to promote it,so he's probably accepted that he's simply not that famous over there, not anymore at least His tour is far from being sold out,so I think he's visiting so many cities just to make sure those few and loyal fans (like the ones on this forum) are able to see him playing

^^A factor in that would also be that the album wasn't released in North America for 3 weeks I think until after it was released in the UK and Japan. Stupid, stupid move really.

Song 2 is maybe the most famous FIFA song ever Fifa '98, right? Fifa '98, Road to the World Cup was the best FIFA ever. I played the shit out of that game on the PS1, back in the day. Epic game.

I don't agree with that stance, but that's the general consensus. Americans think of Blur as the prime example of a "one hit wonder". Only Song 2 did serious damage in the USA. Oasis had several radio staples in the 90s including Live Forever, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger and Champagne Supernova. Those songs are still played, particularly Wonderwall and Supernova.

Sorry, I think you're right, blur was a one hit wonder, it was the gorillaz that made Damon relevant again, not blur. It doesn't help that I'm an actual blur fan and they have a new album out. I had forgotten that.
