It wouldn't surprise me if "The sun shines through the rain." bit was rolling around in Noel's subconscious having heard it at some point but I'm almost certain he didn't steal it on a conscious level. The others are ridiculous apart from "Lock all the doors" but he stole that decades ago, just only now he got around to finishing it so that doesn't count as theft, statute of limitations and all that.

He thinks the Real People have written all the songs of the first 3 albums and Rockin' Chair is the best Oasis song

So now when you use simple words (not entire lyrics, WORDS) already used in other songs, it considered plagiarism ? Oh my...
Maybe that replay was plagiarized from another forum, who knows.

There are probably hundreds of songs where the lyrics say "the sun shines through the rain"...

Everything is plagiarism if you look at it that way.

Anyway, that song called The People in the Telly is fucking awesome. Actually Noel plagiarized it when writing DYKWIM too, as in the lyrics there's a line which says "Do you know what I mean?". Noel, you're such a loser

"D'You Know What I Mean?" is probably the first thing he said when he was a kid

These videos are especially ludicrous when they're alleging plagiarism of commonplace phrases like "at the end of the day."
Imagine if all English idioms were copyrighted by the Oxford English Dictionary - you'd have to get permission from them before saying anything, haha.

You'd think The Real People were this band you'd go and listen to now on Spotify and find that they've got 6 or 7 Definetely Maybe's to their name and they just got unlucky by giving all their talent to a few no marks from Manchester.
In reality they don't have a single song that stands up to anything Noel written from 1994-1997. Or any Oasis material to be quite honest.
No doubt they shown them the ropes. Big deal. Im sure everyone whos ever made it had a shit load of guidance from people we will never hear about. This idea that Oasis need to live up to the story of stumbling out a council estate onto the stage of Knebworth is laughable.

That Don't Go Away bit though... Can't argue with coping the whole chorus.

That Don't Go Away bit though... Can't argue with coping the whole chorus. he took the exact lyrics and made an infinitely better melody and chorus. in fact if i was him id just have changed the lyrics after coming up with a melody that good.

honestly, i don't think you'd get away with such a blatant rip off (actually, it's not even a rip off, it's a copy). they could have sued noel easily and chances would have been very good that they'd made millions off it. in the history of music, royalties have been paid for way less than this (see the verve and rolling stones).
so i thought, what if they somehow both have written it together as part of jam session or a recording session or whatever the did, and they just both used it afterwards? they seem to have spent much time together in the early 90ies, so it's possible. noel is known for heavily borrowing stuff, but that's something different. it doesn't fit noel's style.

they could have sued noel easily and chances would have been very good that they'd made millions off it They settled. I don't know what they made (that's part of the settlement) but I'm sure they did OK. The first time I heard Feel the Pain fundamentally changed the way I think of Noel and earlier Oasis. It's clear plagiarism, not influence, and it makes me wonder just how much Noel took from other people without credit.
