I just finished reading Chris Hutton's book 'Growing Up With Oasis' which was published in 97.
Hutton was best mates, in school, with Guigsy and along with Bonehead and Tony Mc formed the original incarnation of the band Rain.
As most of you are surely aware, Liam soon after replaced Hutton and well, the rest is very familiar history...
Anyway, in the book, Hutton spends considerable time slagging his former bandmates (as well as Noel and Liam)...
He claims that a lot of the Oasis sound was actually created in Rain (he writes that him and Bonehead actually wrote a tonne of fantastically received songs)
My question is has anyone ever heard of any of these songs (they were apparently inspired by the Smiths and Joy Division).

According to Noel, the songs were shit and they only had a few. Either they didn't show the tunes to Noel or Hutton is trying to over exaggerate his importance.

From the way Noel comes off and the fact that I am a true fan and can see that my heros, the Gallaghers are both not perfect and are humans and humans at times are mean to one another, I can say I agree with Hutton, ive read the book aswell, but, only one some points, not completely do I agree. Dirty the way Mancs are at times with one another, the way Guigsy did Chris the dirty. The way Chris was burned at the Main Road gig by not being allowed backstage or sorted out with tickets. I mean honestly, yes the band was going off in a diff direction thats why Liam soo easily took the band from him. Shit happens for a reason, Im glad it played out the way it has. Long Live The Rain, Long Live OASIS!!!

I saw an interview with Bonehead and Noel where they talk about the Rain before Liam joined. Apparently Bonehead had long hair (while still going bald) and they did a cover of 'Wild Thing' where they changed the words to "Wild Thing....You make me want to get stoned".
The general opinion was that it was pretty terrible.

My avatar is the Rain's first performing at the Bridge Club, Burnage in 1990(?), Guigs(left, in white shirt), Bonehead(middle, not bald in blue shirt) & Chris Hutton (middle, arms up). Sorry but, I don't know who the other one in white shirt is. Before Tony joined the band, so they played with a drum machine.

i tend to think that this kind of people are just sooooooooooo pissed because we see what oasis is now but he should face the fact that without liam and noel there's no oasis, so he was never part of it period
