While Noel's tunes don't generally give specifics as to location, person, etc... his songs are definitely story driven. Especially his early stuff. It was all about longing for a better place and possibly going there. To me, that is narrative. It's subtle, sure... but it's still there.

Country music in its worst form is the worst music imaginable (Nashville Skyline by Bob Dylan), but when it's good it can be really good. And especially when it comes to storytelling. I'm not a big country fan overall, but here's some BRILLIANT songs for y'all:
