Ballad of the Mighty I does literally nothing for me, The Right Stuff on the other hand, now there's a tune.

The Mexican and ITHOTM grew massively on me after hearing them live. The only one song I'd skip at the moment is X-Ray Eyes... somehow it doesn't really work for me.

Okay.... I was VERY enthusiastic the first couple of weeks. Expectedly, the extreme excitement has worn of now. That doesn't mean that I now think the album is less great, but it means that I feel prepared to listen to something else than Chasing Yesterday. Which is..live versions of Chasing Yesterday! In all seriousness, I still think the album is excellent and after hearing The Mexican and especially (!) ITHOTM live, I appreciate the album even more. I agree with you, World71R , somehow "Do the Damage" would make the album even better, but in the end, it's cool that he has such a strong B-Side. Reminds me of a certain band in the 90s And as some of you already pointed out in other threads, it's quite "cool" to start and finish the live set with a b-side. Speaks for the quality and quantity of great songs Still, I'm deeply hoping for a live version of the remaining CY-tracks. Especially WTSRTS and TRS, because they are my favourites of the album and I think it'd be very interesting.

Riverman, Lock All The Doors, The Dying of the Light and (seriously) The Mexican were my favourite tracks at first, and they're still great for me. The Ballad of The Mighty I really grew on me during this month, now it's the second place for me, just behind Riverman. ITHOTM sounds nice on the album, and The Right Stuff is very good, really like it. All the b-sides are nice, specially Do The Damage.
Now, about The Girl With X-Ray Eyes and WTSRTS, it's not that I don't like both, but I really don't care about them. There's nothing about these tracks that keeps my attention, but I don't skip them.
Let's see what happens after one year.

I like it more than I did a month ago, and I really liked it then. There is nothing I'd change about at all. And BOTMI is one of Noel's finest ever songwriting moments.

The only song I don't like is The Girl With X-Ray Eyes, I just find it rather dull and lyrically cheesy. I don't have a problem with The Mexican, its a bit throwaway but fun nevertheless. Reminds me a bit of The Stones song Bitch which is probable my second favourite song by them. Love the rest of the album.

I love the whole thing, especially Riverman, The Right Stuff, and the Ballad of the Mighty I. Gives me hope for the future.

Honestly, if Noel is going to treat us with albums like this one, i don't want reunion. This would really be a step back, seems like he found a new joy in making music again.

I've just been listening to Help! for the first time in a good few months and in The Night Before, McCartney sings 'it makes me wanna cryyyyyy" in a similar style to how Noel sings it but with a different melody. Combine that with the 'something in the way she moves" line in Riverman and it's a miracle the likes of Pitchfork haven't been banging on about how Oasis and Noel 'ripped off the Beatles' for the thousandth time.

The more I head Ballad Of The Mighty I, the more I'm convinced that it's one of the best songs Noel's ever written.

Most I've enjoyed a Gallagher album since SOTSOG.
I genuinely love this album in entirety and it's shot to my top five Oasis-related.

A true step up from the first album with many different genres rolled into one album. I think it's truly great and has some truly great songs. Top 3 songs are Riverman, Lock All the Doors, and TSRTS for me

This is the only Oasis/NGHB/BE album were I think the songs get better as the album goes on. The stronger songs start at track 6 for me

But why wouldn't Noel be able to deliver an equally strong Oasis record? As long as he removes LAG's contribution, he would be able to. And I would take that over a solo career any day.....

He got lazy in Oasis and relied on the others contributions which were sub par. I think he got bored in them also and his heart wasn't in it. Also, as a solo artist it's your own work that's on the line and you can't hide behind anyone else. He could write a another Oasis album but I think his head is out of Oasis now and he's not interested in being in a band like that anymore,he's moved on and I'm glad he has because it's like having a brand new great band to follow. Give me another Noel Album before another Oasis album any day now. The recent gigs have also been far more enjoyable than any post 2000 Oasis gigs I was at.

Just got my Bose Noise Cancellation Headphones with me, finally, and am now listening to the album fully with these on. Riverman just finished.

Still hate Mighty I and skip Heat of the moment.
The bsides are a nice addition to the record which is really realy strong. Favs : Riverman, Xray eyes, While the songs remain the same. This last one rarely gets a mention here but it's one of the finest Noel's song.

Initially I thought it was a great album, but was preparing myself to mark it down a notch or 2 once the excitement had worn off but if anything I've gone the opposite way, it's just fucking fantastic.
I'd say my favourite songs on the first couple of listens were Riverman, Right Stuff and WTSRTS. I don't think much has changed in that respect, however what has happened is songs that I thought were alright, I now think of as really strong, TGWXRE, ITHOTM, LATD being prime examples.
I'm going to stick my neck out and say IN MY OPINION, it's Noel's most consistent album since Definitely Maybe. That's fucked.
