So many to choose from, but this classic written by Ray Davies, and peformed here by the Pretenders, is one of my favourites.
The Pretenders - I Go To Sleep

-Beatles - Yesterday; Here Comes The Sun; Because; Here, There And Everywhere; Michelle; I Will; Julia...and countless others no doubt
-John Lennon: Woman; Mind Games -David Bowie: Wild Is The Wind (cover) -Oasis: any early Noel acoustic number, I love how innocent ad youthful his vocals sound, but especially D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?, which is simply gorgeous, and an extremely rough version of Sad Song that only I seem to own...for some reason. -Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds: Alone On A Rope -Paul Weller: You Do Something To Me; Wild Wood; A Year Late; Wings Of Speed; Above The Clouds...and the version of The Jam tune, English Rose. -Roddy Frame: Western Skies -Chris Rea: The Mention Of Your Name -Fleetwood Mac - Songbird -Eva Cassidy (cover singer): Autumn Leaves; Fields Of Gold; Wade In The Water; Over The Rainbow...maybe I'm biased because she was a favourite of my mum's, but her voice is beauty beyond belief for me. -Led Zeppelin: The Rain Song -Janis Ian: At Seventeen etc.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
Incident on 57th Street- Live 1975
My only knock on Noel as a songwriter. I wish he could write a song with a story like this.

Takk has so many beautiful songs....Milano, Saelglopur, Glosoli, Andvari...hoppipolla is one of the best ever. Agreed. But it's still no match to the magic of "Ágætis byrjun" (had to copy that title ) and ( ). I remember buying that first record (it's actually their second, I know) at HMV on Oxford Street in London in 2000, shortly after they had done this 'tent tour' with Radiohead. I really had no vocabulary for this kind of music at that time, it was just different and certainly beautiful.

Yes agaetis is the better album (one of my top ten ever) but Takk has more classically beautiful songs - it's their second technically but Von is like Pablo Honey...shhh it didn't happen....

Let's go back to the old days with some traditional folk songs...
I can never find the perfect version of Loch Lomond, but I always thought it has the most beautiful melody of all time.
Another Scottish folk song..
And just to be sure I'm not anti-English, this is a stunner too..
Last, but certainly not least, Mark Knopfler's (from Dire Straits of course) theme from the film Local Hero - his entire composition for this great film was stunning.

Always thought this was a beautiful song, the lyrics are meaningful and the music just works so well with it

Both Spanish and English versions of Bruce Dickinson's Man Of Sorrows, in my honest opinion his best non Maiden tune.
