Just the two in here, which is your favourite? Both are Manchester bands, both were working class...so which was the better debut?

This debate is a constant battle raging on in my head, day after day, year after year. Without a doubt my two favourite debuts and both in my top 4 albums of all time. Rock 'n' Roll Star | I Wanna Be Adored | Shakermaker | She Bangs The Drums | Live Forever | Waterfall | Up In The Sky | Don't Stop | Columbia | Bye Bye Badman | Sad Song | Elizabeth My Dear | Supersonic | (Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister | Bring It On Down | Made Of Stone | Cigarettes & Alcohol | Shoot You Down | Digsy's Dinner | This Is The One | Slide Away | I Am The Resurrection | Married With Children |
|
It's near impossible to choose between the two because they both mean so much to me. The Stone Roses was the first record I ever bought; Definitely Maybe was the album which really got me into Oasis and therefore many of my other favourite bands. I'm going to abstain because it wouldn't be fair to either album to pick one over the other.

Both are stellar. If you aren't a Stone Roses fan it's easier to choose Definitely Maybe.

Dm , my other 3 debuts are Zep 1, VH 1, and Gnr appetite for destruction would rate Zep debut easily the best musically , then those no order just depending on mood roses debut rounds out my top 5

If I had to choose one to be stuck with for the rest of my life then The Stone Roses, hence why I chose it for this poll. But Definitely Maybe has my all time favourite song on it 'Live Forever'.

While I love the first 3 and last 3 of TSR debut album In the middle we got a backward going song(interesting, but the novelty wears off pretty fast, and it's longer than waterfall) and Elisabeth My Dear wich I would understand if it was after I am The resurrection(if this was in the middle of the album), but since it isn't it's like the criticism I have of that album. In the Bonus tracks deparment(sad song vs Fool's gold + Elephant Stone) TSR wins by a landslide.

Definitely Maybe has cocaine and alcohol and cigarettes.
TSR is more weedy.
Both are equally good. But in music I prefer energy and euphoria. So I go with DM.

They are both great and 2 of my favourite albums, but DM wins it for me, just because I'm a bigger Oasis fan than I'm a Stone Roses fan and I listen to DM slightly more.
Btw, hadn't even realised until now that Fools Gold wasn't on the album.

Voted DM. But both album changed the youth culture in UK. Two of the most important records in history

I just had a sneaky look at the poll and I'm amazed that Definitely Maybe is winning 28-1. As this is an Oasis forum I thought it would win but not by a margin as large as that.
I'm tempted to give The Roses a sympathy vote.

The Stone Roses. There's more duds on Definitely Maybe.

I've been listening to the Stone Roses a lot lately, and I'm tempted to go for their debut in the poll, not that it would help...

Definitely Maybe. Rock'n'Roll Star, Live Forever, Slide Away, Supersonic, Columbia, Cigarettes and Alcohol, etc, enough said. And amazing that B-sides like Half The World Away, Listen Up, Fade Away. Certainly my favourite album of all the time.
