Ok, so I am still confused about this.
-The verses from the original LATD went to My Sister Lover
-The current riff from the verses of LATD came from Coming on Strong? At least the chord progression. The vocal melody doesn't sound the same.
-What part of the original LATD went to the Chemical Brothers if he kept the same Chorus between both versions and the verses went to My Sister Lover?
-Noel said the verse for LATD hit him coming out of a Tesco's but he never mentioned that he must of remembered the chord progression from Coming on Strong. He made it sound like he had thought of it right there but it was already there.
Sorry if I confused anyone, this shit does my head in sometimes.

The verses did go to My Sister Lover. The chorus survived and made it to Noel's version.
Comin' On Strong and Lock All The Doors were on the same tape from 1993, so they were probably written at similar times and do have similar riffs.
I think Noel either got confused between the two songs or meant that the riff or similar melody went to the Chemical Brothers.
When Noel talked about the Tesco story, he was probably referring to the lyrics of the verse, rather than the chords.

Yeah I knew he kept the chorus. So the lyrics from the original LATD verses went to Setting Sun? I'll have to check that out.

No, the lyrics went to My Sister Lover. The melody or the riff went to Setting Sun.

Well I don't know about the riffs, however:
The vocal melody & lyrics from the verse to 'Coming on Strong' were reused when Noel wrote a song over an instrumental that the Chemical Brothers sent him. This became 'Setting Sun'.
The vocal melody & lyrics in the chorus to 'Coming on Strong' have been abandoned.
The vocal melody & lyrics(?) from the verse to the 1993 demo 'Lock all the Doors' were reused when Noel wrote the verses to 'My Sister Lover'.
The vocal melody & lyrics in the chorus to the 1993 demo 'Lock all the Doors' were reused when Noel wrote the Chasing Yesterday released track 'Lock all the Doors.

I though the 'Tescos epiphany' was the riff after the chorus?

Well you know what I think about the Tescos epiphany? I think it's bullshit.

I don't believe the Tesco thing for a second.
Personally, he rediscovered Lock All the Doors when Ignition / Big Brother were preparing the Chasing The Sun project and going through all the old tapes and he obviously liked the song but had to do some work on it.
Mark Coyle had made the "Spirit of Definitely Maybe" statement before Chasing Yesterday came out, which for me is a reference to Lock All the Doors. Coyle also wrote in the liner notes of the replica of Live Demonstration Tape that it was a shame the recordings of Comin' On Strong, Lock All the Doors, Must Be The Music and Heaven Knows (Real People cover) were missing.
Noel has used the Chemical Brothers story as it sounds better than saying he used parts of it on a Be Here Now b-side, or maybe that's just me being cynical.

It may be that there is a demo with the verses from Setting Sun and the chorus for Lock All The Doors of course, but we've just not heard it. I'm sure he writes and rewrites and swaps parts of songs all the time. It could just be story telling, who knows,

Makes him sound great just remembering an old tune from nowhere but he will have had alot more to do with the reissues than he's made out. Funny how You Know We Can't Go back sounds almost identical to the Be Here Now period and he don't have any recollection of writing it too

But I don't think he remembered LATD when he came out of Tesco, the story is about the verse kind of "coming" to him when he went out of fuking Tesco,I actually remember him saying he's been trying to write a verse for it for a while without really succeeding,I could be wrong tho
