Listen to Noels Dying of the light first 30 seconds and then listen to the verves "weeping willow" first 30 seconds. It's basically the same but I don't know who copied who!

Just as well the rest of TDOTL is 100x better than Weeping Willow. It would've totally ruined the album if it all sounded like it.

Noel's written many songs roughly in this style, and some of them predate Urban Hymns (e.g. D'You Know What I Mean?).
So it's more accurate to say Weeping Willow sounds like Oasis IMO.

Regardless, Weeping Willow sounds like poo poo imo. Most of the Verve is turgid overrated poo. They've had a few great songs but the rest is poor. Ashcrofts solo stuff has also been dreadful. |

I really like a lot of their songs, they were fantastic at V in 2008, but I've never really got into any of their albums (other than urban hymns to an extent). I also know the solo tune Music Is Power, I used to play that one all the time. |

Never noticed that. Funny because 'weeping willow' is actually one of my favourite songs by the verve along with 'this time'. I like to mix 'weeping willow' with 'where did it all go wrong' when i play the song on my acoustic guitar. Works great!

The Verve are probably my 2nd favourite band after Oasis. Ashcroft is a fucking legend. And Weeping Willow is a better song than TDOTL aswell.
