Hi guys, another madferit from Italy (Rome). I'm 19, and Oasis are one of the best things to have ever happened in my life. Sadly i'm born in the wrong decade, i guess. I wish i was 19 in the '90, the last true rock decade.
Favourite album: Both Definitely Maybe and (What's the story?) Morning Glory. Favourite song: Slide Away.

Welcome to the forum. What do you think of Chasing Yesterday? Thank you. I like it; there are amazing songs in it. I like the new direction he's taking. Ballad Of The Mighty I, Lock All The Doors, You Know We Can't Go Back, Riverman, While The Song Remains The Same, The Right Stuff; they are fucking great!

I wish i was 19 in the '90, the last true rock decade. Favourite album: Both Definitely Maybe and (What's the story?) Morning Glory. Favourite song: Slide Away. If you were 19 in 1990......you would now be 45 years old. Wouldn't that be fun? I better show my age too......I am only 9 years older then you. And in case anyone takes a look at my profile I am actually 3 days older than it says. My birthday is not March the 3rd, its March the 6th, and I was born on that day in 1987. The same day as Allan Davies (star of Jonathan Creek) ....(laughs) Which basically means I am the antichrist because the 3rd month of the 6th day. 666. Not sure what relevance 1987 has to the myriad, or chinese calender (astrophysics calender) whatever you call it. I should check that out sometime. I heard Allan Mcgee was actually more interested in Aleister Crowley (the famous satanist societies) work for a while, and now he has decided to reform Creation Management records. Isn't that great? That might mean Oasis will return soon. I am not sure if being around in the 90s was that great anyway (as in older in age), I certainly appreciate them a lot more now (the music especially) but that is just music becoming worse and the music industry being run by evil people. One thing I look back more pleasantly on 94/95 is the lack of useless technology around (like cellphones- everyone has one) I don't own a cellphone by the way......Someone asked me the other day...."How do get by without a cellphone" The main thing is people were outside a lot more. Not inside as I remember Liam G in an interview saying "I'd hate to be growing up nowdays....souless, everyone sitting inside staring at screens" And I think "Just fine, No radiation therapy for me, now or after I have cancer, no idiot friends texting me about nothing every 3 minutes" But you never noticed it back then anyway. For me the mid 90s was about the future, and 20 years on......here we/I am. Isn't it great. I suggest you read the Bible and David Icke books. For me the 90s, was quite fun as a 7, 8 year old (94/95), although I must admit, no one around me was into Oasis......at the time, except someone I knew down the street and from school who seemed to be quite interested in Oasis in 1997(but also tragically The Blood Hound Gang it turned out) And to be quite honest, I never took a real interest in Oasis until they started becoming interesting in 2002, but then they released two pathetic albums then disappeared. My sister actually wanted to win Heathen Chemistry on the radio, when it came out and decided to get all their albums. Which revived my interest in the band somewhat. (After not hearing a jot of radio play from them apart from Wonderwall played at 1am in the middle of 2001) I honestly think the best is yet to come from Oasis if they reform, with Bonehead, Guigsy and Allan White I hope. I'd like to see Tony McCarrol on drums again but I doubt that's going to happen considering what Noel thought of him. He thought of Noel, but he wrote a book about it so who knows. Anyway, ta ra.

Gem and Andy might be better with instruments, but the vibe you got when the original formation was on stage was really something else, man.

Well you obviously saw them live in 94-97 sometime but I never did. Although they came to New Zealand in March 98 for two shows, but it was all over the place apparently. I talked to a fellow at a cd shop in 2007 (I was asking about U2s Popmart DVD being released on dvd), he said he went....but they were arguing to much, and of course that was the year that Liam got banned from Cathy Pacific Airlines for arguing over a scone. Must of been good scones. Gluten free I hope.
Anyway I don't live in Wellington or Auckland, thank the lord. As far as I was concerned back then, Oasis were old news. But I do think Be Here Now got an unfair time, even though it is a disappointing album, its not as bad as its made out to be. I wish it got more radio play in 97/98.....instead of Pearl Jam, Our Lady Peace, Big Wreck, Smashing Pumpkins, Marcy Playground - although I don't dislike those music groups.
But yes, Boneheads loud simple guitar, gave them a good sound. They had a rehearsal space sound to their music, which other bands just don't have. Not contrived or planned out.
As unprofessional as Oasis could be, that was something good about them, they weren't obviously boring.
Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian make Robbie William's worst albums and Simply Red look rocknroll.

Sadly i was born in '95 so i never got the chance to see the first lineup. I love Be Here Now. True proper Rock 'n Roll. A bunch of guys, in the studio, that really don't give a fuck about anything. Plus the songs are really good. A bit too long, but they are much better than some of the latter stuff they did. I think nothing could have lived up to to the expectations following MG. Maybe if they saved some of their B Sides for In Italy Stand By Me was used for a commercial in '99 if i recall correctly. Vodafone maybe? Who knows... They were unprofessional, but that's what i love about them. I love their swagger, their attitude. I don't listen to Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian. I don't know why but i only seem to listen '90s music. (Well, Pink Floyd, Beatles and Queen aside of course)

That is because 90% of music after 2000 is utter rubbish.
Be Here Now was only bad cause they started becoming really rich and were more interested in getting drunk and living the lifestyle than making a decent album. Although, Be Here Now is gonna be re-released this year, remastered so it will sound better probably. Also possibly on a bonus disc version the original demos recorded in mid 1996 which sound a lot different, which may also include unheard songs before which didn't make it to the album.
According to Owen Morris they sound much better than the original album, and he wishes they used them more to make the record rather than Noel writing most of it in 2 weeks on a beach somewhere. Which is what he did as far as I know.
The good thing is, if Oasis ever do reform, they will be better off for exploring different music styles in their songwriting, so it will make the songs better. And hopefully they will rehire Owen Morris for a non drunken recording session and people might get a decent album from them. Instead of being disappointed.
I personally don't find any albums by Noel/Oasis disappointing. There is something I like about all of them in their own way, but in my view after Be Here Now they have left a lot to be desired for in their music.
I am sure Noel has lots of new and old written songs laying around which should of been on albums that could of made them better. But time is passing by, and they are going to waste.

The remaster didn't really improve the first two albums sonically and I don't think Be Here Now will be any different. Um no that is not true. I've heard the first two album remastered, they just sound more spacey not louder. I don't mind cause I've heard the other albums in their original mix enough anyway. Owen Morris thinks they sound a lot better but maybe they do need a different sound to them after all these years. Be Here Now will be different, it can't be any louder anyway (haha). I think Owen Morris knows how that album should sound. A lot clearer probably, more like Morning Glory did. Although....length wise I guess it will be the same. I don't think they can chop bits out, but who knows. If you want to know more visit his site he's written a page on it. (Under Mustique Demos) owenmorris.net/new-order-page-one-title-for-site-2-2-2/Bless you.

The top one is from the 1994 Japanese CD and the bottom from the remaster. Owen Morris was hardly going to say it sounded worse than the original when he's friends with the person trying to promote a product. I personally don't hear any significant improvement in the quality of the remaster and would listen to the original vinyl pressings over any of them, as these offer the best dynamic range and make for easier listening.

Well since I prefer to listen to Oasis on an mp3 player, while I am walking long distances....I'll probably like the new mixes actually.
But it doesn't matter, its just a remaster, the songs sound the same.
Be Here Now will be improved though. Because Owen and Noel both think it didn't turn out right, and they aren't the only people who think that.
Lets face it, its a good album for the time it was released for a week. But if you look back on it, its junk.
I remember when it came out, I didn't think much of it.
Perhaps looking back you can appreciate it for what it is a lot more.
Its just 11 tracks of long songs, it should of had 13 or 14 of shorter ones to balance it out.
Anyway, the remaster will sound better. And hopefully the demos will be on an extra cd with some unreleased B Sides.
