Having finished listening to Stop The Clocks, I noticed that many of the songs sounded slightly different, especially Wonderwall, which I found to have much more noticable reverb. I was wondering what everyone thought of the remastered versions of these songs, and if people think they sound better or worse.

I'll try to hear it.
EDIT: I noticed alot more reverb on Liam's voice and the drums sounded softer.

I remembered thinking that the vocals had more delay/reverb on the single release too. I have a feeling that they printed two different masters and chose this one to use.

I'm really loving the reverb on the Wonderwall from STC. Now I can't stop listening to it. I forgot how good a song it was - is

The best bit of this remastered Wonderwall version is the inclusion of the Roll With It cough at the start.

Having done some more listening, I think that Stop The Clocks sounds like crap. My biggest pet peeve is that there aren't any seconds of silence following the end of the songs. I'd think a good 5 seconds of silence at the end of each song would be a good way to reflect on the music. By having it one song after another w/ no break, it really doesn't give you any time to sit and say "hmm that was a great song." Plus, I think the mastering itself sounds terrible. The music seems dull and lifeless. Everything is too clean - it sounds very dull. But maybe thats just the audio engineer in me...

The mastering IS HORRIFIC! Just as it was on all oasisa albums apart from DM.
This is not oasis fault; it's the way the industry has gone and it's ruining music.
However Noel should have demanded the mastering was done correctly so there is no distortion(unintended) or clipping!

No, it's pretty horrific mastering. There's no dynamic range in any of the songs -- too compressed. Champagne Supernova is borderline clipping in some parts. The Masterplan sounds suffocated. The strings on it are particularly bad. There's absolutely no life to 'em. The tracks that seem to have benefitted a bit are Half The World Away, Wonderwall, and Songbird..Otherwise, horrific.

Yeah your right man; it's a shame record labels are pushing mastering engineers to compress music, it's stupid as fuck. How would you say the original albums are? I think Be here now sounds horrible and i don;t mean the songs which i think are good. Noel should get involved in the mastering and make sure things sound right.

I think the best mastering is on Standing On The Shoulder of Giants - but that's the best sounding record anyway, by far. Heathen Chemistry isn't that bad. DBTT is just terrible. BHN is for the most part too compressed but I do like the results on Fade In/Out and AATW (Reprise).

It's not the fault of oasis it's the fucking record label trying to get the music loud for radio which is stupid. Radio can adjust their own levels and mastering a cd loud for this is retarted. We should be able to turn our systems right up to blast the music without distortion and clipping . For e.g familiar to millions is far too loud(music) but the vocals can't be heard properly.

well my familiar to millions i can here the vocals clearly Yes you can hear them but not fully. I have bootleg concerts with suberb sound quality superior to FTM. It was poorly recorded and mixed althought i think the playing is pretty good. Gas panic is suberb; why didn;t noel play like that on record?

gas panic is so much better live than on the album yeah; does noel use a pedal while playing on that? I heard noel say he can correct or improve things live that he doesn't do on record; he proves he can actually play live. When playing supersonic he makes the solo more orginal as opposed to the george harrison copy on record. As far as mastering goes now they're off sony maybe the next able won't be compressed so much because sony don't give a fuck sound quality. I would love to hear all oasis albums remastered by steve hoffman(he's the best) then people would be able to enjoy them alot more.
