even if he would have put the 4 bonus songs onto the first cd it wouldn't have been as long as be here now. what are you doing, noel?

To make it seem like there's more value for money?
Two old tracks, a newly released b-side and a remix could easily fit on the end of a 10 track album and it would save me switching cds in the car to hear them.

Always something for people to moan about nowadays isn't there. I would imagine its due to the company pressing the CDs printing a huge run that would cover both the regular and the deluxe versions for the album. Doing the bonus on a separate run makes sense and eliminates confusion and is cost effective.

Or maybe to keep the flow of the album intact with "Mighty I" as the de facto last track?

Noel hates the environment.

yeah I asked myself the same question - pain in the arse to have to swap discs when listening on the stereo, given that all tracks would easily fit onto one disc anyway. 2bf though if you don't want to pay more for the Japanese version you need to burn yourself a complete version on cdr with leave my guitar alone on it anyway (and the dying of the light demo as an extra special additional bonus track!). and yeah why no lyrics for the bonus tracks in the booklet? bit poor. still, album is amazing enough for me to let him off this time.

If you don't like swapping discs then you could always rip the files from the 2 CDs and burn them all onto 1 CD-R.

Or maybe to keep the flow of the album intact with "Mighty I" as the de facto last track? Yep, this is why. I don't want bonus tracks on the same CD spoils the album experience.

the whole deluxe/limited/special edition thing is a pain really - it's good to just have one definitive version of an album. I get the reasons why - money being the biggest - but it's frustrating!

Dont look too far : pricing. That's it. They can charge more with two cds than just one. Nothing to do with the flow of the record or anything.

I think it would have been better to do it like the first album where the 2 bonus tracks (LTLSALOM, Good Rebel) were on the album disc and the 2nd disc was a DVD of the making-of.

It is kinda silly to have a bonus CD with only 4 tracks on it. Such a waste of a technological medium. Great to have the songs though!

If you don't like swapping discs then you could always rip the files from the 2 CDs and burn them all onto 1 CD-R. Burnt this the other day. At 78mins 48secs it just fits on one blank CDR. 01. RIVERMAN 02. IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT 03. THE GIRL WITH X-RAY EYES 04. LOCK ALL THE DOORS 05. THE DYING OF THE LIGHT 06. DO THE DAMAGE 07. THE RIGHT STUFF 08. REVOLUTION SONG 09. WHILE THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME 10. FREAKY TEETH 11. THE MEXICAN 12. YOU KNOW WE CAN'T GO BACK 13. BALLAD OF THE MIGHTY I 14. LEAVE MY GUITAR ALONE 15. IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT (TOYBOX REMIX) 16. BALLAD OF THE MIGHTY I (BEYOND THE WIZARD'S SLEEVE REANIMATION) 17. IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT (ANDY WEATHERWALL REMIX) I had to leave THE DYING OF THE LIGHT (DEMO) and the instrumental mixes of the first three singles off.
