I've always been more of a Noel fan and as such I've always loved his singing. I wonder if him getting his teeth fixed has anything to do with his voice? He's also cut back on cigarettes. He recently said he only has about three a day now (one after every meal) Sure that changes on a night out but it only helps!'

I've always loved noel's voice, since Supersonic single, that's got Take Me Away on it. And sad song on DM vinyl.
Unique voice.

NOT TRYING TO START THE DEBATE...
What I do want to say, is that as Liam's voice worsened, Noel's became stronger. Listen to him on Live by the Sea and then now. It's a marvelous change.

Oh yes, Acquiesce was awful that night. His voice was all over the place in the chorus. It's not strange that I like Noels voice that much, since Don't Look Back In Anger was the song that got me into Oasis. Would be a bit strange if I would dislike his voice, wouldn't it

Absolutely, no question about it. At least for the past 10 years he's consistently been a great singer, both in the studio and live. I've always found the tone of his voice very pleasant, even in the early days when he sometimes struggled to hit the correct notes. If we are to compare the two singers, I think the best thing about Noel is he can be quite dynamic and subtle, unlike Liam who always sings as if his life depended on it. That benefitted all the great, rocking songs, but I think it didn't fit some of the ballads. As a matter of fact, there are a few classic tracks I wish Noel would have sung (Cast No Shadow and Rockin' Chair come to mind). And I realize this is not a popular opinion. For me, that's it. Except, maybe, the Rockin' Chair part.

I agree that he's underrated as a singer - how many bands nowadays could sing The Dying of the Light the way he does?

I love his voice. It fits some songs better than others. Brilliant on DOTL, Riverman, Right Stuff for instance. Not as great on YNWCGB or LATD which needs more of a rasp and snarl like Liam would deliver, but it certainly isn't bad. Still sounds great. Noel in my opinion is a much more talented singer, with much greater range and more consistency.
And he usually always nails the notes he writes live. Many singers just can't do it live and sound like shit. But Noel seems to improve as time goes on.
As far as Noel sounding American, I suppose he does to a point, maybe in that I don't hear an accent much when he sings, not like when compared to Damon Albarn or Paul Weller. But is that really a bad thing? Liam sounded very much the same. I was shocked when I heard his voice in an interview for the first time.

Now that you guys are talking about accents and all that, have you noticed that it sounds a bit strange when Noel pronounces the letter s at the end of some words? At least on CY and Friday's performance of Mighty I. Maybe it's the microphones or that his teeth are getting fucked up (I know, I've been there).

Noel's voice is inviting and gentle, much more melancholy and contemplative - more appealing to the general radio listener, whereas Liam's vocals are confrontational and attack minded - a bit intimidating and dangerous for listeners of Radio 2 for example, not for the faint hearted! Nobody else's voice would ever be able to rise from that wall of guitar sound of early Oasis like Liam.
They're both great in my opinion - if I was none the wiser I wouldn't believe they were brothers by hearing them sing. Very lucky to have both of them contribute to the band, each voice giving us a wider variety of emotions as a result I think.

I like Noel's singing voice a lot. And I also like Liam's singing voice a lot.
God bless.

I can't believe a thread like this exists on an Oasis site...

While he is great songwriter, does anyone here feel like they ''look past'' his voice when listening to his tracks (because they know they're getting a great song)? If you just take Noel's singing voice by itself... yes it's technically very good... but do you actually like it? For me, it has become too polished in recent years... losing that Mancunian flavour and becoming, dare I say it, almost American. Or do you like it... but prefer it in small doses? For me, his voice works best with either acoustic songs or the truly great sing-a-long types... anything else in between is just a no-no. But regardless, all hail the Chief! It's better than Liam's.

No I don't. I don't like Liam's voice either. I don't much care for Bonehead's guitar playing or Alan's drumming. And as for Noel's songwriting? Terrible!

Both Liam and Noel's voices give me a buzz that no other artist can. Liam's voice gives me confidence and belief in myself. Noel's voice helps me reflect on things and can really calm me down, as well as get me pumped

Brilliant song.

Love his Voice, and i love the way he changes the arrangements of some songs to suit his voice, supersonic for example.
