There's big competition from BRIT Award winners imo... One Direction sales are up 37%, while Royal Blood are up 206%

Should do. I think it could be the case where it goes number one in its second week. Reviews are far more positive than I expected even though I rate the album very highly.

Everyone think CY will go to No1 in UK first week? Any competition? Sincerely hope it does. As for the US I plan on calling the local rock station where I live and requesting his material frequently.

It'll be the first week in the UK with the new charting rules, but I'm still hoping it'll chart well. Does anyone have any ideas of its chances considering its pre-release sales vs other artists?

It deserves to, but it won't. Even as recently as say 2005-08 a brilliant pop/rock record like CY could have made it, but in this climate, not a chance. This type of music has never been more irrelevant.
Music today needs a technically flawless but boring, riffing vocalist, big, simple club music synths every 30 seconds and lyrics about madly falling inlove with a one night stand (vomits) to appeal to anyone. I wouldn't worry about it, we all know this album is fantastic, it doesn't need to be measured by it's chart position.

Any echo effect of the brits will be felt on this weeks charts . Next week noel will steam roll to number 1

Nobody will come close. What streaming sites count in the official chart? Only Spotify?

To be fair, all of that was true when HFB was released and it went to #1 without any problems.

He will sell at least 4 times more than the album at #2 will sell. Absolutely no competition next week.
He will sell more than the albums from #2-6 combined

Hands down it will be number one. And then it will get pushed out of the way by Madonna.
At least he was smart in releasing it a week prior.

Dont know what the record for consecutive albums is but, Springsteen , MJ, U2 and the Rolling Stones, each have ten UK number ones.
Elvis Presley and Robbie Williams each have 11. Madonna has 12 and the Beatles have 15.

Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran occupied the other 2 spots. THose two are probably more likely to challenge tbh It deserves to, but it won't. In the past 24 months, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Royal Blood, Kasabian, Paolo Nutini, Kaiser Chiefs (x2), Bruce Springsteen, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie and Biffy Clyro have all had number 1 albums in the UK... And I don't believe that your perception of a number 1 album would fit any of those.

In Germany CY has quite a realistic chance to be on 1 too. I´ve never seen such an hype (since David Hasselhoff )not even during oasis' peaktimes. Noel is everywhere (press, radio - of course the hip hop discussion helped on that)

Obviously Brit awards stimulate sales that's the whole point of the them, to counter the post xmas slump in music sales. All acts this week will see the biggest increase and obv that momentum will carry on but highly doubt they'll see anywhere near 130-150k next week which noel is likely to achieve.

Morning Glory 10 consecutive weeks at #1 EDIT: nope, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 1. 51 weeks in the top 10, insane Anyway, he can beat Madonna for another #1. Last Madonna's album didn't well in the UK, but this time she's promoting way more and that fall is helping a lot NGHFB sales 2nd week: 71.000 Madonna's last album 1st week: 56.000 We'll see BRIT's artists can't compete. Friday Sam Smith was #1 with 20k copies sold. No way they'll match Noel.
