1st one is the sadness of Oasis splitting up, melancholy, the "Broken arrow" of Oasis. 2nd is the fun of having a growing solo career bouncy and light feeling album with Noel spreading his wings as in "The Ballad of The Might I".

More plausibly... "Being famous sucks" seems to be a theme on both albums:
WAL - the title gives it away
ITHOTM "They tell me you’ve touched the face of God Like the sound of a rope cracking on your neck"
"You’d better learn to fly ‘Cause they’re gonna point you up at the sky"
TDOTL I was told that the streets were paved with gold... etc.

I think reading too much into Noel's lyrics leads nowhere. Sure, he has some themes nowadays, but as he has said himself on many occasions, he mostly just goes with what comes to him in the moment.

Usually the themes in Noel's work post- Definitely Maybe revolve around the concept of "Hey! That rhymes!"

The first album tells the story of two people running away together. Sort of. Loosely...
Noel's mentioned this a couple times. I think it kind of works. At least he didn't let it get in the way of the tunes
