his debut. which was simply great
but lacks the joyfulness of chasing yesterday. noel is in top form this time around and it shows not only sonically but in his writing as well
" i was told, the streets were paved with gold and there'd be no time for getting old when we were young but it's alright if you dance with me tonight, we'll fight the dying of the light and we'll catch the sun . . . "
" hold that thought, don't let me go . . . we can dance beneath the fireflies on an empty road it's a shame how a memory fades to gray, we let love get lost in anger chasing yesterday . . . "
just WOW
what are your favorite lines at the moment?

"So she took me by the hand … we followed clues left in the sand … as she swallowed space and time." Also "Maybe I believe in magic love … find it in the moon and stars above." I'd guess his wifey likes these.

It's the sound of man who is very comfortable with his craft. I read that in a review and agree 100%.
I think they are both great albums but this one is very fresh and uplifting. Shows Noel's confidence...

Every once in a while I'll go back and listen to his debut album, but it's definitely a chore. The songs are there, but it suffers from some poor production choices *cough* If I Had A Gun! *cough*. To be honest, I think his debut album might have better stand alone tracks but Chasing Yesterday is so much more enjoyable to listen to.

I can listen to CY, not skip a track and it's over quickly. Enjoyable, light and fun, really well crafted with great melodies and hooks. Listening to NGHFB can be ploddy and be boring at times. In saying that, some of the songs on NGHFB may be of a higher standard than CY. Both are great albums in the end.

Yes, you get the feeling that first album is 2 hours long and CY feels like it is over after 15 minutes.
