Noel is on fire!!
First album is ace, this album he's stepped it up.
The confidence & production he's showing now is fantastic, proves once & for all imo he's well & truly moved on from Oasis and is much more comfortable nowadays as a solo artist. His first two albums are as consistent as he's ever been.
Great times.

As long as he's successful with HFB we won't be seeing a reunion that's for sure.
Hang on, this reminds me of another thread?

Truly a golden era for Noel and his fans. He's actually trying genuinely new things and guess what? He's fucking brilliant at it!

Noel's been on fire with his songwriting lately. It actually began when he wrote The Importance of Being Idle in late 2004/early 2005. Look at some of the tunes he's composed since 2005.
The Importance of Being Idle Bag It Up The Turning Come On Outside Waiting For The Rapture Shock of The Lightning Falling Down Everybody's On The Run Dream On If I Had A Gun The Death of You and Me AKA....What A Life! AKA....Broken Arrow (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me Alone On A Rope A Simple Game of Genius Freaky Teeth Riverman In The Heat of The Moment Girls With X-Ray Eyes Lock All The Doors The Dying of The Light The Right Stuff You Know We Can't Go Back Ballad of The Mighty I Do The Damage

I think Noel's actually always been consistent. I don't feel there's ever been an album where Noel didn't bring a handful of classic tunes to the sessions. His track record of putting them on the albums is patchy, and it's great to see him sticking ten songs on an album again, but I don't think he ever lost his mojo.

Every era was good
1994 - 1998 DM brilliant, WTSMG brilliant. BHN very good plus all the b-side. Absurd.
2000 - 2005 Not as good as 1994-1998 (well, he wrote the history there). But great tunes too. Lyla, The importance of being idle, stop crying your heart out (still one of the most famous oasis songs), little by little etc.
2008 - 2011 Falling Down, The Shock of the Lightning, Everybody's on the Run, If I Had a Gun, The Death of you and me, what a life etc.
NEW ERA: 2015 - ? All CY, basically.

I would say 2000 is in its own era, SOTSOG is actually my 3rd favorite Oasis album and it doesn't sound anything like HC or DBTT. 2001-2006 definitely is the weakest era, then 2007-2010 is in its own phase. 2011- Present more like it, since he still will be playing alot from HFB1.

I'm looking forward to the second wave of enthusiasm on the forum when the people who are avoiding the leak get the album in their hands.

I feel like Noel read this forums while making Chasing Yesterday. More rocking than HFB? Check. More guitar solos? Hell yeah. Experiment with some psychodelic stuff? Sure. Everything people disliked about HFB (which was already bloody great) is gone from this one. I'm looking forward to the second wave of enthusiasm on the forum when the people who are avoiding the leak get the album in their hands. I tried, lasted one day

Webby has more than alluded to several times that "high profile" people read this forum. I'm not sure Noel himself does (although if I was Noel, I would want to see what the hard fanbase was saying). But I do genuinely wonder if "Management" has been paying attention. X-Ray Eyes - Lock All the Doors - Dying of the Light - Right Stuff - Song Remains the Same ^^ WHAT A FUCKING STRETCH!!

Enthusiasm everywhere Let's enjoy these times. What a great album by Noel. I knew he won't disappoint us and even better if it's true that he or "his people" read on this forum! I can't wait for the first live performances My friends and family think I'm mad for my enthusiasm (Though I caught my boyfriend humming "The Right Stuff" to himself today, haha!)

Oh they read this place. For example: - I demanded Beady Eye go modern sounding on their second album. They did! - I demanded that Dave Sardy have NOTHING to do with Noel's second album. No Dave Sardy. You should all be thanking me.

You actually like X-Ray Eyes and The Right Stuff? X Ray Eyes I just can't take seriously at all. The Right Stuff on first listen is just pretty awful. Sheepskin Tearaway by Pete Doherty pisses all over it.

While Noel's album is pretty good... this forum has a history of over-reacting to albums when released. Pretty sure DBTT reviews during the first week was ridiculously positive... 8/10 9/10's everywhere. The same for DOYS (good album) the Beady Eye offerings (which are now considered a joke by some) and Noely G's stuff (honestly haven't listened to the first album in a year) Live Forever

I think DBTT is the only case where many people in the forum (me included ) changed his mind significantly with time. Probably because HC was so bad, the reaction of both press and fans was more enthusiastic than the album probably deserved. But I think general feeling in the forum was basically right with the albums after that. For instance, the general feeling was half of DOYS was their best in years but very few people said NOR or GOYHHL were great . Most people acknowledged from the beginning they were weak songs . The general feeling with NGHFB was that it was Noel's best set of songs in many years but the album lacked variety and a better production. And I think the feeling today is basically the same: strong songs, weak production

I dont think he ever really had writer's block, just it wasn't flowing like in 94 / 95, which is probably the one and only time in history a songwriter (on his own, not counting the duos a la macca/lennon) had that much great tunes in him in such a short period of time.
Now he's getting great songs at a normal rate, maybe 4 or 5 per year and fill the rest with leftovers and fillers.
